“ So this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of God in Jerusalem. From that day to the present it has been under construction but is not yet finished.”

Then this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the house of God that is in Jerusalem, and from that time until now it has been in building, and it is not yet finished.’

So this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of the Temple of God in Jerusalem. The people have been working on it ever since, though it is not yet completed.’

建築的人立永恆主殿堂根基的時候、祭司穿着禮服、拿着號筒，亞薩的子孫利未人拿着響鈸，都站着，讚美永恆主，照以色列王大衛所手定的。

到亞達月三日這殿就造出來：那是在大利烏王執掌國政的第六年。

他們來到耶路撒冷上帝之殿的地址第二年、第二月、撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯、約薩達的兒子耶書亞、和他們其餘的族弟兄、就是祭司和利未人、跟一切從被擄中回到耶路撒冷的人、就開了工；又派立了利未人、從二十歲和以上的、來監管永恆主之殿的工程。

因為誰藐視了『這些小事』的日子，誰就歡喜；誰見所羅巴伯手裏拿着線鉈，誰就高興。」『這七個眼乃是永恆主的眼目、看來看去遍察全地的。』

那時撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞、以及所有剩下的人民、都聽從了永恆主他們的上帝的聲音、和永恆主他們的上帝所差遣的神言人哈該的話；人民在永恆主面前都存着敬畏的心。永恆主的使者哈該將永恆主的使命對人民說：『永恆主發神諭說：是我與你們同在。』永恆主激動了撒拉鐵的兒子猶大省長所羅巴伯的心，和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞的心以及所有剩下的人民的心，他們就來，從事於重建萬軍之永恆主他們的上帝之殿的工作。

於是撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和約薩達的兒子耶書亞都起來，動手重建在耶路撒冷的上帝之殿；同他們在一起的有上帝的神言人在支持着他們。
