遣之至迦西斐雅、見其地族長易多、使告易多、與其昆弟尼提甯人、令人至此、為我上帝室供其役事、

遣之至加西巴、見民長易多、告之、又告其同宗、殿中奔走者、當令人至此、可於上帝殿、供其職司。

命之往迦西斐雅、見其處族長易多、又傳之所當告易多、及其兄弟、並居迦西斐雅地殿役之言、即勸其遣人來、在我天主之殿供役事、

and I ordered them to go to Iddo, the leader in Kasiphia. I told them what to say to Iddo and his fellow Levites, the temple servants in Kasiphia, so that they might bring attendants to us for the house of our God.

I ordered all those men to go to Iddo. He was the leader in Kasiphia. He and his Levite relatives were temple servants there. I told my men what to say to them. I wanted Iddo and his Levite relatives to bring some attendants to us for the house of our God.

and sent them to Iddo, the leading man at the place Casiphia, telling them what to say to Iddo and his brothers and the temple servants at the place Casiphia, namely, to send us ministers for the house of our God.

And I sent them forth unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and his brethren the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

殿役有西哈的子孫、哈蘇巴的子孫、答巴俄的子孫、

凡三十歲以上的利未人都在統計之列，共有三萬八千男子，其中有兩萬四千人在耶和華的殿裡司職，六千人做官長和審判官，四千人守門，四千人用大衛提供的樂器頌讚耶和華。大衛將利未人革順、哥轄和米拉利的子孫分成班次。

殿役和所羅門僕人的子孫共三百九十二人。

王說：「這是不是約押的主意？」婦人說：「我敢在我主我王面前發誓，王所說的一點不錯，這些話是你臣僕約押吩咐婢女說的。

然後到王那裡，對他這樣這樣說。」約押把應該說的話都告訴婦人。

我已從以色列人中選出你們的利未親族歸給我，協助你們在會幕中司職。

耶和華對我說：「如果你回心轉意，我就讓你重新事奉我。如果你說有益的話，不說無益的話，就可以做我的發言人，百姓便會歸向你，但你不可受他們的影響。

當初，我把你留在克里特島，是要你完成未辦完的事工，並照我的指示在各城選立長老。

之後，利未人便進入會幕，在亞倫父子們的監督下司職。以色列人照耶和華對摩西的吩咐奉獻了利未人。耶和華對摩西說：「二十五歲以上的利未人都要到會幕司職，五十歲時退休。退休之後，他們可以協助本族弟兄看守會幕，不用再司職。你要這樣給他們分派工作。」

利未人再不用抬聖幕和其中的器皿了。」按照大衛臨終時的囑咐，二十歲以上的利未人都已被統計。他們的任務是幫助亞倫的子孫在耶和華的殿裡司職，管理殿的院子和廂房，負責潔淨聖物等事務。他們還負責供餅、做素祭的細麵粉、無酵薄餅的調和、烤製、分量和尺寸。他們每天早晚要肅立、頌讚耶和華，每逢安息日、朔日或其他節期，他們要按照規定的數目將燔祭獻給耶和華，並負責看守會幕和聖所，幫助他們的親族——亞倫的子孫在耶和華的殿裡供職。

我要在他們當中選立一位像你一樣的先知，我會告訴他該說的話，他要把我的一切吩咐告訴他們。

然後，耶和華伸手摸我的口，對我說：「看啊，我已把我的話放在你口中。

你要把該說的話傳給他，我會賜你們口才，教你們如何行事。

亞達薛西王第七年，一些以色列人、祭司、利未人、歌樂手、殿門守衛和殿役來到耶路撒冷。
