But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say,“ Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”

若夫徒恃律法者、則實處於咒咀之下。經不云乎：『凡不遵行律法之一切規定者、應服咒詛。』

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”

All who depend on obeying the law are under a curse. It is written,“ May everyone who doesn’t continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law be under God’s curse.”( Deuteronomy 27:26)

For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written,“ Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”

‘ Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’ And all the people will reply,‘ Amen.’

For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.

Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God.For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.For the same God who said,“ You must not commit adultery,” also said,“ You must not murder.” So if you murder someone but do not commit adultery, you have still broken the law.

Say to them,‘ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Cursed is anyone who does not obey the terms of my covenant!

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”

For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it.( The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!)

The Lord will never pardon such people. Instead his anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the Lord will erase their names from under heaven.

“ Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse!You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today.But you will be cursed if you reject the commands of the Lord your God and turn away from him and worship gods you have not known before.

For all people are mine to judge— both parents and children alike. And this is my rule: The person who sins is the one who will die.

“ Then the King will turn to those on the left and say,‘ Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.

At one time I lived without understanding the law. But when I learned the command not to covet, for instance, the power of sin came to life,and I died. So I discovered that the law’s commands, which were supposed to bring life, brought spiritual death instead.Sin took advantage of those commands and deceived me; it used the commands to kill me.But still, the law itself is holy, and its commands are holy and right and good.But how can that be? Did the law, which is good, cause my death? Of course not! Sin used what was good to bring about my condemnation to death. So we can see how terrible sin really is. It uses God’s good commands for its own evil purposes.

Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else:“ Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector.The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer:‘ I thank you, God, that I am not like other people— cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector!I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’“ But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying,‘ O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’

That is why I have disgraced your priests; I have decreed complete destruction for Jacob and shame for Israel.
