But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says,“ Lord, who has believed our message?”Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (niv)

He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (niv)

God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. (niv)

God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. (niv)

and asked them,“ Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered,“ No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”So Paul asked,“ Then what baptism did you receive?”“ John’s baptism,” they replied.Paul said,“ John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. (niv)

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,“ Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” (niv)

When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, (niv)

Peter replied,“ Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (niv)

So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? (niv)

“ As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.Then I remembered what the Lord had said:‘ John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying,“ So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” (niv)

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, (niv)

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession— to the praise of his glory. (niv)

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed— a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:“ The righteous will live by faith.” (niv)

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body— whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free— and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (niv)

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. (niv)

For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. (niv)
