This is because all of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. You have put him on as if he were your clothes.

Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ as if he were your clothing. Don’t think about how to satisfy sinful desires.

We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. And so we are formed into one body. It didn’t matter whether we were Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free people. We were all given the same Spirit to drink.

You have started living a new life. Your knowledge of how that life should have the Creator’s likeness is being made new.

The water of the flood is a picture. It is a picture of the baptism that now saves you too. This baptism has nothing to do with removing dirt from your body. Instead, it promises God that you will keep a clear sense of right and wrong. This baptism saves you by the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

You were taught to start living a new life. It is created to be truly good and holy, just as God is.

Peter replied,“ All of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven. You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I put on a godly life as if it were my clothes. Fairness was my robe and my turban.

The people of Jerusalem will say,“ We take great delight in the Lord. We are joyful because we belong to our God. He has dressed us with salvation as if it were our clothes. He has put robes of godliness on us. We are like a groom who is dressed up for his wedding. We are like a bride who decorates herself with her jewels.

She and her family were baptized. Then she invited us to her home.“ Do you consider me a believer in the Lord?” she asked.“ If you do, come and stay at my house.” She succeeded in getting us to go home with her.

All of us were baptized into Christ Jesus. Don’t you know that we were baptized into his death?By being baptized, we were buried with Christ into his death. Christ has been raised from the dead by the Father’s glory. And like Christ we also can live a new life.

He said to them,“ Go into all the world. Preach the good news to everyone.Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who does not believe will be punished.

So you must go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end.”

Because you belong to Christ, you have been made complete. He is the ruler over every power and authority.When you received Christ, your circumcision was not done by human hands. Instead, your circumcision was done by Christ. He put away the person you used to be. At that time, sin’s power ruled over you.When you were baptized, you were buried together with Christ. And you were raised to life together with him when you were baptized. You were raised to life by believing in God’s work. God himself raised Jesus from the dead.

The Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

We are made right with God by putting our faith in Jesus Christ. This happens to all who believe. It is no different for the Jews than for the Gentiles.

They replied,“ Believe in the Lord Jesus. Then you and everyone living in your house will be saved.”They spoke the word of the Lord to him. They also spoke to all the others in his house.At that hour of the night, the jailer took Paul and Silas and washed their wounds. Right away he and everyone who lived with him were baptized.

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water. The official said,“ Look! Here is water! What can stop me from being baptized?”

“ But the father said to his servants,‘ Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.

Right away something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes. And he could see again. He got up and was baptized.

They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
