那使女所生的是按着肉体生的；那自由的妇人所生的是凭着应许生的。

然而，那使女所生的是按着血气生的；那自主之妇人所生的，是凭着应许生的。

婢女的儿子是按着人的意愿生的，主母的儿子是按着上帝的应许生的。

但那出于婢女的，是按着肉体生的；那出于自由的妇人的，是凭着应许生的。

那出于女仆的是由肉体生的，那出于自由女人的是藉着应许生的。

然而，那使女所生的是按着血氣生的；那自主之婦人所生的是憑着應許生的。

婢出者、依形軀而生、自由出者、乃由應許焉、

婢出者、循人道、婦出者、因應許、

其由婢生者、循血氣而生、其由自主之婦生者、因應許而生、

然婢女之子、乃因肉情而生；而主婦之子、則憑恩諾而生。

His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

Abraham’s son by the slave woman was born in the usual way. But his son by the free woman was born because of God’s promise.

But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise.

The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise.

But the one by the slave was born as a result of the flesh, while the one by the free woman was born through promise.

But the son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise.

But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise,

Howbeit the son by the handmaid is born after the flesh; but the son by the freewoman is born through promise.

But he[ who was] of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman[ was] by promise.

But one, the son by the slave woman, was born by natural descent, while the other, the son by the free woman, was born through the promise.

However, the son by the servant was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.

因着信，撒拉自己已过了生育的年龄还能怀孕，因为她认为应许她的那位是可信的；

也不因为是亚伯拉罕的后裔就都是他的儿女；惟独“从以撒生的才要称为你的后裔。”这就是说，肉身所生的儿女不是神的儿女，惟独那应许的儿女才算是后裔。

耶和华照着他所说的眷顾撒拉，耶和华实现了他对撒拉的应许。亚伯拉罕年老，到神对他说的那所定的时候，撒拉怀了孕，给他生了一个儿子。

有一位说：“明年这时候，我一定会回到你这里。看哪，你的妻子撒拉会生一个儿子。”撒拉在那人后面的帐棚门口也听见了。亚伯拉罕和撒拉都年纪老迈，撒拉的月经已停了。撒拉心里窃笑，说：“我已衰老，我的主也老了，怎能有这喜事呢？”耶和华对亚伯拉罕说：“撒拉为什么窃笑，说：‘我已年老，果真能生育吗？’耶和华岂有难成的事吗？到了所定的时候，我必回到你这里。明年这时候，撒拉会生一个儿子。”

弟兄们，你们是凭着应许作儿女的，如同以撒一样。当时，那按着肉体生的迫害了那按着圣灵生的，现在也是这样。

他在没有盼望的时候，仍存着盼望来相信，就得以作多国之父，正如先前所说：“你的后裔将要如此。”他将近百岁的时候，虽然想到自己的身体如同已死，撒拉也不可能生育，他的信心还是不软弱，仍仰望神的应许，总没有因不信而起疑惑，反倒因信而刚强，将荣耀归给神，且满心相信神所应许的必能成就。

神又对亚伯拉罕说：“至于你的妻子撒莱，不可再叫她撒莱，她的名要叫撒拉。我必赐福给她，也要从她赐一个儿子给你。我必赐福给撒拉，她要兴起多国；必有百姓的君王从她而出。”亚伯拉罕就脸伏于地窃笑，心里想：“一百岁的人还能有孩子吗？撒拉已经九十岁了，还能生育吗？”亚伯拉罕对神说：“但愿以实玛利活在你面前。”神说：“不！你妻子撒拉必为你生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫以撒。我要与他坚立我的约，成为他后裔永远的约。

他到底怎么说呢？“这话语就离你近，就在你口中，在你心里，”（就是说，我们传扬所信的话语。）
