So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above the expanse. And it was so.

神就造出空气，将空气以下的水、空气以上的水分开了。事就这样成了。

上帝就造了穹苍，把穹苍以下的水和穹苍以上的水分开。事就这样成了。

天主遂作空氣、使空氣以上之水、與空氣以下之水、截然中分、有如此也、

So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.

And that’s exactly what happened. God made the huge space between the waters. He separated the water under the space from the water above it.

And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.

And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens.

Then God said,“ Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” And it was so.

They will be lights in the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth.” And it was so.

If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain on the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or the north, the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.

Then God said,“ Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.

Who enclosed the sea behind doors when it burst from the womb,when I made the clouds its garment and total darkness its blanket,when I determined its boundaries and put its bars and doors in place,when I declared,“ You may come this far, but no farther; your proud waves stop here”?

He causes the springs to gush into the valleys; they flow between the mountains.
