Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die.

Your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

You have done me a big favor. You have been very kind to me by sparing my life. But I can’t run to the mountains. I won’t be able to escape this horrible thing that’s going to happen. And then I’ll die.

“ You have been so gracious to me and saved my life, and you have shown such great kindness. But I cannot go to the mountains. Disaster would catch up to me there, and I would soon die.

Then they will say,‘ Because they abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’”

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel.The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field;for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. And he answered them,“ O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me.”

Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them and hide my face from them, and they will be devoured. And many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day,‘ Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?’

“ Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable?Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time?Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” SelahThen I said,“ I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.

Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord, or declare all his praise?Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them,that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power.He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert.So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left.Then they believed his words; they sang his praise.But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them.When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the Lord,the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image.They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass.They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt,wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise.They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the Lord.Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness,and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands.Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead;they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed.And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever.They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips.They did not destroy the peoples, as the Lord commanded them,but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did.They served their idols, which became a snare to them.They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons;they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them.Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power.Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity.Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry.For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive.Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say,“ Amen!” Praise the Lord!

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.Then I said,“ Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me:I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O Lord.I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me!For evils have encompassed me beyond number; my iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me.Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt!Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me,“ Aha, Aha!”But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually,“ Great is the Lord!”As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!

And they went and woke him, saying,“ Save us, Lord; we are perishing.”And he said to them,“ Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Then David said in his heart,“ Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.”

and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
