These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.”

You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.

But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say,“ Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”

Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.

And to the man he said,“ Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.

“ But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars— their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

If you see a fellow believer sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it.

For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.

But the widow who lives only for pleasure is spiritually dead even while she lives.

for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,“ Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

And because you belong to him, the power of the life giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

For all people are mine to judge— both parents and children alike. And this is my rule: The person who sins is the one who will die.

If I warn the wicked, saying,‘ You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths.If you warn them and they refuse to repent and keep on sinning, they will die in their sins. But you will have saved yourself because you obeyed me.“ If righteous people turn away from their righteous behavior and ignore the obstacles I put in their way, they will die. And if you do not warn them, they will die in their sins. None of their righteous acts will be remembered, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.

Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years.

I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!

“ Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked.“ Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”

If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break.Still, everyone died— from the time of Adam to the time of Moses— even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come.But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil— the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.( It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

As long as that son of Jesse is alive, you’ll never be king. Now go and get him so I can kill him!”

“ You will surely die, Ahimelech, along with your entire family!” the king shouted.

‘ Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’ And all the people will reply,‘ Amen.’

The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground— trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

I vow by the name of the Lord who rescued Israel that the sinner will surely die, even if it is my own son Jonathan!” But no one would tell him what the trouble was.

For the Lord had said of them,“ They will all die in the wilderness.” Not one of them survived except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

It uses God’s good commands for its own evil purposes.

So the king sent for Shimei and demanded,“ Didn’t I make you swear by the Lord and warn you not to go anywhere else or you would surely die? And you replied,‘ The sentence is fair; I will do as you say.’

and lends money at excessive interest. Should such a sinful person live? No! He must die and must take full blame.

And suppose I tell some wicked people that they will surely die, but then they turn from their sins and do what is just and right.

God said,‘ You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”“ You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.
