Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,

At that time, bushes had not yet appeared on the earth. Plants had not started to grow. The Lord God had not sent rain on the earth. And there was no one to farm the land.

When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up— for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,

neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the Lord God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil.

因此，耶和華上帝就把亞當趕出伊甸園，讓他去開墾土地——他的本源。

後來，夏娃又生了該隱的弟弟亞伯。長大後，亞伯做了牧羊人，該隱做了農夫。

上帝說：「陸地要長出植物——各類結種子的菜蔬和結果子的樹木，果子內都有籽。」果然如此，陸地長出了植物——各類結種子的菜蔬和結果子的樹木，果子內都有籽。上帝看了，感到滿意。

一塊經常受到雨水滋潤的田地若為耕種的人長出莊稼來，就蒙上帝賜福；

你種地，地卻不會再為你長出任何東西，你必在地上四處漂泊。」

祂使綠草如茵，滋養牲畜，讓人種植作物，享受大地的出產，

這樣，你們才是天父的孩子。因為祂讓陽光照好人也照壞人，降雨給義人也給惡人。

在列國供奉的偶像中，誰能賜下雨水呢？天能自降甘霖嗎？我們的上帝耶和華啊，難道不是只有你能行這些事嗎？是你賜雨水降甘霖，所以我們仰望你。

使雨水降在杳無人煙之地，降在無人居住的曠野，以滋潤荒涼不毛之地，使土地長出青草？雨水有父親嗎？誰生的露珠？

祂使雲霧從地極上升，發出電光，帶來雨水，從祂的倉庫帶出風來。

祂降下雨水澆灌大地，賜下甘霖滋潤田園。

你眷顧大地，降下沛雨，使土地肥沃富饒。上帝啊，你使江河湧流不息，澆灌大地，為世人預備五穀。你降下甘霖，澆透壟溝，滋潤壟背，使地鬆軟、長出莊稼。你賜下豐年福月，你的腳蹤恩澤滿溢。
