耶和華在幔利橡樹那裏向亞伯拉罕顯現。天正熱的時候，亞伯拉罕坐在帳棚門口。

亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊沒有為他生孩子。撒萊有一個婢女，是埃及人，名叫夏甲。

「我們照着耶和華－我們上帝所吩咐的，從何烈山起行，經過你們所看見那一切大而可怕的曠野，往亞摩利人的山區去，到了加低斯‧巴尼亞。

亞撒和跟隨他的軍兵追趕他們，直到基拉耳。古實人被殺的很多，無法復原，因為他們在耶和華與他軍兵面前被擊潰。猶大人奪了許多財物，又攻打基拉耳四圍一切的城鎮；城中的人都懼怕耶和華。猶大人擄掠了一切的城鎮，因其中的財物很多，

亞伯蘭帶着他的妻子與羅得，以及一切所有的，從埃及上尼革夫去。

他們轉回，來到安‧密巴，就是加低斯，擊敗了亞瑪力全地的人，以及住在哈洗遜‧他瑪的亞摩利人。

耶和華的聲音震動曠野，耶和華震動加低斯的曠野。

基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人相爭，說：「這水是我們的。」以撒就給那井起名叫埃色，因為他們和他相爭。

那時，以撒住在尼革夫。他剛從庇耳‧拉海‧萊回來。
