Unto the pure all things[ are] pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving[ is] nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.They profess that they know God; but in works they deny[ him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people,[ being] old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping[ and] mourning for Moses were ended.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:Neither give place to the devil.

The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away[ the punishment] thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

A little that a righteous man hath[ is] better than the riches of many wicked.

I behaved myself as though[ he had been] my friend[ or] brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth[ for his] mother.

His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in[ one of] the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch out mine hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy[ it] for the old hatred;

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed[ the blood of] the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time[ that their] iniquity[ had] an end:

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful,[ and] hating one another.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.

Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me,[ and] the mother with the children.
