Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?

But I am afraid that just as the serpent deceived Eve by his treachery, your minds may be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

So that huge dragon– the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world– was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.

“ I am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

The tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”

So the LORD God said to the woman,“ What is this you have done?” And the woman replied,“ The serpent tricked me, and I ate.”The LORD God said to the serpent,“ Because you have done this, cursed are you above all the wild beasts and all the living creatures of the field! On your belly you will crawl and dust you will eat all the days of your life.And I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring; her offspring will attack your head, and you will attack her offspring’s heel.”

and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written,‘ He will command his angels concerning you’ and‘ with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”

At that time the LORD will punish with his destructive, great, and powerful sword Leviathan the fast-moving serpent, Leviathan the squirming serpent; he will kill the sea monster.

Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam,“ What have I done to you that you have beaten me these three times?”And Balaam said to the donkey,“ You have made me look stupid; I wish there were a sword in my hand, for I would kill you right now.”

Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as the weaker partners and show them honor as fellow heirs of the grace of life. In this way nothing will hinder your prayers.

For if they fall, one will help his companion up, but pity the person who falls down and has no one to help him up.

And he said to him,“ I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worship me.”
