Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have relations with your brother’s wife and perform your duty as a brother in law to her, and raise up a child for your brother.”

于是犹大对俄南说：“你去与你哥哥的妻子亲近，向她尽你作弟弟的本分，替你的哥哥立后。”

犹大对俄南说：“你当与你哥哥的妻子同房，向她尽小叔子的义务，为你的哥哥立后。”

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你為弟的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡你的本分，為你哥哥生子立後。」

猶大對俄南說：「你要與哥哥的妻子她瑪同房，向她盡你做弟弟的本分，好替你哥哥傳宗接代。」

於是猶大對俄南說：“你去與你哥哥的妻子親近，向她盡你作弟弟的本分，替你的哥哥立後。”

猶大對俄南說：『你要進去找你哥哥的妻子，向她盡你做弟弟的本分，為你哥哥樹立後裔。』

猶大對俄南說：「你當與你哥哥的妻子同房，向她盡小叔子的義務，為你的哥哥立後。」

猶大命俄南曰、汝其與嫂同室、以盡弟分、生子嗣兄、

猶大命阿楠曰、當與嫂同室、生子以嗣兄。

猶大命阿南曰、當與兄妻同室、生子以嗣兄、

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother- in- law to raise up offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. After all, you are her brother- in- law. So carry out your duty to her. Provide children for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife and perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Er’s brother Onan,“ Go and marry Tamar, as our law requires of the brother of a man who has died. You must produce an heir for your brother.”

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and produce offspring for your brother.”

And Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.”

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother unto her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and produce offspring for your brother.”

And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.

Then Judah said to Onan,“ Have sexual relations with your brother’s wife and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her so that you may raise up a descendant for your brother.”

Judah said to Onan,“ Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.”

On that day some Sadducees( who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him,saying,“ Teacher, Moses said,‘ If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’Now there were seven brothers among us; and the first married and died, and having no children, he left his wife to his brother.It was the same also with the second brother, and the third, down to the seventh.Last of all, the woman died.

But Naomi said,“ Return, my daughters. Why should you go with me? Do I still have sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness.

Then Boaz said,“ On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also acquire Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the deceased, in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance.”Then the redeemer said,“ I cannot redeem it for myself, otherwise I would jeopardize my own inheritance. Redeem it for yourself; you may have my right of redemption, since I cannot redeem it.”Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning the redemption and the exchange of land to confirm any matter: a man removed his sandal and gave it to another; and this was the way of confirmation in Israel.So the redeemer said to Boaz,“ Buy it for yourself.” And he removed his sandal.Then Boaz said to the elders and all the people,“ You are witnesses today that I have bought from the hand of Naomi all that belonged to Elimelech and all that belonged to Chilion and Mahlon.Furthermore, I have acquired Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, to be my wife in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance, so that the name of the deceased will not be eliminated from his brothers or from the court of his birth place; you are witnesses today.”And all the people who were in the court, and the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel; and may you achieve wealth in Ephrathah and become famous in Bethlehem.

And every daughter who comes into possession of an inheritance of any tribe of the sons of Israel shall marry one of the family of the tribe of her father, so that the sons of Israel may each possess the inheritance of his fathers.So no inheritance will be transferred from one tribe to another tribe, for the tribes of the sons of Israel shall each retain possession of its own inheritance.”

“ When brothers live together, and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the deceased shall not be married outside the family to a strange man. Her husband’s brother shall have relations with her and take her to himself as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.It shall then be that the firstborn to whom she gives birth shall assume the name of his father’s deceased brother, so that his name will not be wiped out from Israel.But if the man does not desire to take his brother’s widow, then his brother’s widow shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say,‘ My husband’s brother refuses to establish a name for his brother in Israel; he is not willing to perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.’Then the elders of his city shall summon him and speak to him. And if he persists and says,‘ I do not desire to take her,’then his brother’s widow shall come up to him in the sight of the elders, and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face; and she shall declare,‘ This is what is done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house!’And in Israel his family shall be called by the name,‘ The house of him whose sandal was removed.’
