去供給錫安悲哀的人——賜給他們頭飾代替灰燼，喜樂的膏油代替哀慟，讚美的衣服代替沮喪的靈。這樣，他們就被稱為「公義的橡樹」，是耶和華所栽種的，為要顯出他的榮耀。

到了第三天，以斯帖穿上王后袍，站在王宮的內院，面對王宮；王在王宮裡坐在寶座上，面對王宮的入口。

掃羅的孫子米非波設也下去迎接王；自從王走的那天起，直到王平安回來這天，他沒有修腳，沒有修剪鬍子，也沒有洗衣服。

末迪凱知道了所發生的一切事，就撕裂自己的衣服，披麻蒙灰，出去到城中，大聲痛苦地哀叫。他來到御門前面就停住，因為以麻布為衣袍的人不可進入御門。那時在各個省，在王令和他的法令所傳到的地方，猶太人都大大哀慟；他們禁食、哭泣、哀號，許多人躺在麻布和灰燼上。以斯帖的使女們和太監們前來把這事告訴她。王后極其驚慌，就送衣服給末迪凱穿，要他脫去身上的麻布，他卻不接受。

我因耶和華大大歡喜，我的心因我的神而快樂，因為他給我穿上救恩的衣服，給我披上公義的外袍，如同新郎像祭司那樣戴上頭飾，又如新娘佩戴裝飾。
