Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said,“ It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.”

Joseph named his first son Manasseh. That’s because he said,“ God has made me forget all my trouble and my father’s whole family.”

Joseph named his older son Manasseh, for he said,“ God has made me forget all my troubles and everyone in my father’s family.”

Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh and said,“ God has made me forget all my hardship and my whole family.”

let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

So that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my eyes.

For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.

but after them there will arise seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will consume the land,

And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him.And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands( for Manasseh was the firstborn).

Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father’s house,

And Joseph said to his father,“ Not this way, my father; since this one is the firstborn, put your right hand on his head.”But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”So he blessed them that day, saying,“ By you Israel will pronounce blessings, saying,‘ God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh.’” Thus he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
