那時，埃及的掌權者是約瑟，他賣糧給那地所有的人。約瑟的哥哥們來了，臉伏於地，向他下拜。

約瑟收聚了埃及地和迦南地能找到的所有銀子，就是眾人用來買糧的銀子；約瑟把那些銀子都交到法老家。當埃及地和迦南地的銀子用盡之後，所有的埃及人都來到約瑟那裡，說：「求你給我們糧食吧！難道銀子用完了，我們就要死在你面前嗎？」約瑟說：「如果銀子用完了，可以把你們的牲畜帶來。我就給你們糧食，來換你們的牲畜。」於是，他們把牲畜帶到約瑟那裡，約瑟就給他們糧食，來換他們的馬匹、羊群、牛群和驢。那一年，約瑟就給他們提供糧食，換了他們所有的牲畜。那一年過後，次年他們又來到約瑟那裡，對他說：「不瞞我主，我們的銀子用盡了，牲畜也歸了我主；除了我們的身體和土地以外，我們在我主面前一無所剩。難道我們和我們的地要在你眼前消亡嗎？求你用糧食買我們和我們的地，我們連人帶地都必成為法老的奴僕；又求你給我們種子，使我們得以存活，不至於死，地也不至於荒蕪。」於是，約瑟為法老買了埃及所有的地，因為饑荒重壓埃及人，他們各人都賣了自己的地。這樣，埃及所有的地就都成為法老的了；至於埃及邊界一端到另一端的所有百姓，約瑟都使他們成了奴隸。只有祭司的地，約瑟不買，因為祭司有從法老而來的定額糧；他們可以吃法老所給的定額糧，所以不用賣自己的地。約瑟對百姓說：「看哪，我今日為法老買了你們和你們的地。看，這些是給你們的種子，你們可以種地了。到了收穫的時候，你們要把收成的五分之一交給法老，五分之四歸你們自己，作為田裡的種子以及你們、你們家人和孩子的食物。」

因為那日子將要臨到所有住在全地面上的人。

到了七十年結束的時候，耶和華必眷顧提爾。那時提爾必重操舊業，與地上的萬國交易。

他對我說：「這是向全地面發出的詛咒。凡偷竊的都必照著書卷這一面上的話被清除，凡起假誓的都必照著書卷另一面上的話被清除。

他從一個人造出人類萬族，使他們住在整個地面上，預先設定了他們的年限和所住的疆界，
