当时在埃及地掌权的人是约瑟，卖粮给各地众百姓的就是他。约瑟的哥哥们来了，脸伏于地，向他下拜。

约瑟收集了埃及地和迦南地所有的银子，就是众人买粮的银子，约瑟就把那些银子都带到法老的宫里。埃及地和迦南地的银子都花光了，埃及众人到约瑟那里，说：“我们的银子都用完了，求你给我们粮食吧！我们为什么要死在你面前呢？”约瑟说：“银子若是用完了，可以把你们的牲畜卖给我，我就以你们的牲畜换粮食给你们。”于是他们把牲畜带到约瑟那里，约瑟就拿粮食换了他们的马、羊、牛、驴；那一年他因换他们一切的牲畜，用粮食养活他们。那一年过去，第二年他们又来到约瑟那里，对他说：“不瞒我主，我们的银子都花光了，牲畜也都归于我主了。我们在我主面前，除了自己的身体和土地以外，一无所剩。你为什么要眼看着我们人死地荒呢？求你用粮食买我们和我们的地，我们和我们的地就要为法老效力。求你给我们种子，使我们可以存活，不致死亡，土地也不致荒芜。”于是，约瑟为法老买了埃及所有的土地，埃及人因饥荒所迫，都卖了自己的田地；那些地都归给法老了。至于百姓，从埃及边界的一端到另一端，约瑟使他们作奴隶。只有祭司的土地，约瑟没有买，因为祭司从法老领取薪俸，靠法老的薪俸过活，所以没有卖自己的土地。约瑟对百姓说：“看哪，我今日为法老买了你们和你们的土地。看哪，这些种子是给你们的，你们可以耕种土地。将来收割的时候，你们要把五分之一纳给法老，另外四分可以给你们作田地的种子，作你们和你们全家大小的食物。”

如同罗网一样，因为那日子要临到所有居住在地面上的人。

七十年后，耶和华必巡视推罗，使它再度获利，与地面上的世界各国贸易。

他对我说：“这就是向全地面发出的诅咒。凡偷窃的必按书卷这面的话除灭，凡起假誓的必按书卷那面的话除灭。

他从一人造出万族，居住在全地面上，并且预先定准他们的年限和所住的疆界，
