The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

They set out from Bethel. When they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth, and her labor was difficult.During her difficult labor, the midwife said to her,“ Don’t be afraid, for you have another son.”With her last breath— for she was dying— she named him Ben-oni, but his father called him Benjamin.

Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb.She conceived and bore a son, and she said,“ God has taken away my disgrace.”She named him Joseph and said,“ May the LORD add another son to me.”After Rachel gave birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban,“ Send me on my way so that I can return to my homeland.

And Jacob did just that. He finished the week of celebration, and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife.

Jacob loved Rachel, so he answered Laban,“ I’ll work for you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”Laban replied,“ Better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay with me.”So Jacob worked seven years for Rachel, and they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.Then Jacob said to Laban,“ Since my time is complete, give me my wife, so I can sleep with her.”
