“ Swear that you will do it,” Jacob insisted. So Joseph gave his oath, and Jacob bowed humbly at the head of his bed.

“ Swear to me,” he said. Then Joseph swore to him, and Israel worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.

“ Give me your word that you will do it,” Jacob said. So Joseph gave him his word. And Israel worshiped God as he leaned on the top of his walking stick.

And he said,“ Swear to me”; and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself upon the head of his bed.

And Jacob said,“ Swear to me.” So Joseph swore to him. Then Israel bowed in thanks at the head of his bed.

And he said,“ Swear to me.” So he swore to him. Then Israel bowed in worship at the head of the bed.

Then he said,“ Swear to me.” And he swore to him. So Israel bowed himself on the head of the bed.

And he said, Swear unto me: and he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed’s head.

And Jacob said,“ Swear to me.” So Joseph swore to him. Then Israel bowed in thanks at the head of his bed.

And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed’s head.

Jacob said,“ Swear to me that you will do so.” So Joseph gave him his word. Then Israel bowed down at the head of his bed.

Israel said,“ Swear to me,” and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself on the bed’s head.

And all the royal officials have gone to King David and congratulated him, saying,‘ May your God make Solomon’s fame even greater than your own, and may Solomon’s reign be even greater than yours!’ Then the king bowed his head in worship as he lay in his bed,

Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth, that you will not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.

It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and bowed in worship as he leaned on his staff.

As the time of his death drew near, Jacob called for his son Joseph and said to him,“ Please do me this favor. Put your hand under my thigh and swear that you will treat me with unfailing love by honoring this last request: Do not bury me in Egypt.

“ Swear to me in God’s name that you will never deceive me, my children, or any of my descendants. I have been loyal to you, so now swear that you will be loyal to me and to this country where you are living as a foreigner.”

One day not long after this, word came to Joseph,“ Your father is failing rapidly.” So Joseph went to visit his father, and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.When Joseph arrived, Jacob was told,“ Your son Joseph has come to see you.” So Jacob gathered his strength and sat up in his bed.

The man bowed low and worshiped the Lord.
