Jesus could set people free who were afraid of death. All their lives they were held as slaves by that fear.

Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

O Hades, where is your victory?”The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,

Terrors frighten him on every side, And drive him to his feet.

His flesh wastes away from sight, And his bones stick out which once were not seen.Yes, his soul draws near the Pit, And his life to the executioners.“ If there is a messenger for him, A mediator, one among a thousand, To show man His uprightness,Then He is gracious to him, and says,‘ Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom’;His flesh shall be young like a child’s, He shall return to the days of his youth.He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him, He shall see His face with joy, For He restores to man His righteousness.Then he looks at men and says,‘ I have sinned, and perverted what was right, And it did not profit me.’He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit, And his life shall see the light.

For You have delivered my soul from death. Have You not kept my feet from falling, That I may walk before God In the light of the living?

To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine.

Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

For the morning is the same to them as the shadow of death; If someone recognizes them, They are in the terrors of the shadow of death.

What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of the grave? Selah

He is uprooted from the shelter of his tent, And they parade him before the king of terrors.

Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law?
