浸假道藉天使以傳、言出惟行、使諸犯逆、無不遭應得之譴、況吾棄救道、如此之大者、豈能逭乎、

其藉天使所傳之道既確定、凡不順而逆者、皆遭應得之報、

夫以天神所傳之誡命尚且一成不變、有犯必懲；

For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,

Even the message God spoke through angels had to be obeyed. Every time people broke the Law, they were punished. Every time they didn’t obey, they were punished.

For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,

For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.

For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every violation and act of disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,

For if the word spoken through angels proved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;

For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

For if the message spoken through angels proved to be so firm that every violation or disobedience received its just penalty,

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it.” (niv)

Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. (niv)

Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. (niv)

“ Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.” Then all the people shall say,“ Amen!” (niv)

Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. (niv)

take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death. (niv)

“‘ But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native- born or foreigner, blasphemes the Lord and must be cut off from the people of Israel.Because they have despised the Lord’s word and broken his commands, they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them.’”While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly,and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp.”So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord commanded Moses. (niv)

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (niv)

If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the Lord gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God in violation of his covenant, (niv)

Then he said to them,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.’”The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. (niv)

Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. (niv)

Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” (niv)

But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah. (niv)

Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command.So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. (niv)

But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague. (niv)

You saw with your own eyes what the Lord did at Baal Peor. The Lord your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of Peor,but all of you who held fast to the Lord your God are still alive today. (niv)

Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written:“ The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did— and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.We should not test Christ, as some of them did— and were killed by snakes.And do not grumble, as some of them did— and were killed by the destroying angel.These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! (niv)

As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apartand the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions.They went down alive into the realm of the dead, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community.At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting,“ The earth is going to swallow us too!”And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense. (niv)

So tell them,‘ As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say:In this wilderness your bodies will fall— every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me.Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected.But as for you, your bodies will fall in this wilderness.Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.For forty years— one year for each of the forty days you explored the land— you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.’I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this whole wicked community, which has banded together against me. They will meet their end in this wilderness; here they will die.”So the men Moses had sent to explore the land, who returned and made the whole community grumble against him by spreading a bad report about it—these men who were responsible for spreading the bad report about the land were struck down and died of a plague before the Lord. (niv)

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, (niv)

but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000. (niv)

Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. (niv)

“ Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him.Say to the Israelites:‘ Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible;anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native- born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death. (niv)

The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary. (niv)
