爾曹匆怠、當效彼因信及忍而得所許者、○

切勿有所懈弛、當踵效昔賢、篤信不移、堅忍不拔、而終得承嗣恩諾也。

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

We don’t want you to slow down. Instead, be like those who have faith and are patient. They will receive what God promised.

so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.

so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and endurance inherit the promises.

I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; Its stone wall was broken down.When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction:A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest;So shall your poverty come like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.

He who is slothful in his work Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.

Thus says the Lord:“ Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’

He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

THE BELOVED: If you do not know, O fairest among women, Follow in the footsteps of the flock, And feed your little goats Beside the shepherds’ tents.

‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

“ But his Lord answered and said to him,‘ You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.

But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me,“ Write:‘ Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’”“ Yes,” says the Spirit,“ that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”

The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway.

who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude— innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.

and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord‘ the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord— that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.
