切勿有所懈弛、當踵效昔賢、篤信不移、堅忍不拔、而終得承嗣恩諾也。

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

We don’t want you to slow down. Instead, be like those who have faith and are patient. They will receive what God promised.

so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.

so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and endurance inherit the promises.

Remember your leaders, men who spoke to you the word of God, and considering the results of their conduct, imitate their faith.

For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing.

I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding:Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,so your poverty will come as a robber and your want as an armed man.

One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.

Yahweh says,“ Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths,‘ Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’

If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

If you don’t know, most beautiful among women, follow the tracks of the sheep. Graze your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents.

‘ I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your perseverance and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure.

“ But his lord answered him,‘ You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.

Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.

Here is the perseverance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”I heard a voice from heaven saying,“ Write,‘ Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’”“ Yes,” says the Spirit,“ that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.”

The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.

who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.For he looked for the city which has the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.By faith, even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised.Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had enough time to return.But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son,

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.

The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father.

For this is how in the past, the holy women who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands.So Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.

He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,

to those who by perseverance in well- doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;

But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord‘ The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”

But if we hope for that which we don’t see, we wait for it with patience.In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of perseverance, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
