马能在悬崖上奔驰吗？牛能在海中耕作吗？你们却使公正沦为毒药，使公义之果变成苦艾。

并从犹大王室中选出一人与他立约，要他效忠。巴比伦王掳去犹大国的重臣，使犹大国臣服于他，无法图强，只能遵守盟约，以求生存。后来，犹大王背叛了巴比伦王，派使者到埃及请求支援军队马匹。他能成功吗？他这样做怎能逃脱惩罚呢？他这样背约怎能逃脱惩罚呢？“我凭我的永恒起誓，巴比伦王立他做王，他却弃约背誓，他必死在巴比伦。敌人筑起围攻的土垒和高台大肆杀戮的时候，法老虽然兵强马壮，人多势众，仍无法帮他抗敌。他起誓降服，却弃约背誓，所以绝不能逃避后果。因此，主耶和华说，‘我凭我的永恒起誓，他既藐视与我所立的誓言，背弃与我所定的约，我必惩罚他。

亚述王撒缦以色攻打以色列，何细亚纳贡称臣。然而，何细亚差遣使者向埃及王梭求援，不再像往年那样向亚述王进贡。亚述王发现后，把他抓起来囚在狱中。

可是，你们却如亚当一样背约，以诡诈待我。

冷漠无情、不愿和解、好说谗言、毫无节制、蛮横凶暴、不爱良善、

愚钝无知、不守信用、无情无义、毫无怜悯。

你们中间，不论男人或女人，家族或支派，切不可有人背弃我们的上帝耶和华，去祭拜列国的神明，免得你们中间有残根长出苦毒的果实，

你们要谨慎，以免有人失去上帝的恩典，长出苦毒的根扰乱你们，玷污众人。

我们悖逆，否认耶和华，离弃我们的上帝，说欺压、叛逆的话，吐露心中编织的谎言。正义被赶逐，公义不能靠近，真理倒在街上，正直被拒之门外。真理无处可寻，远离恶事的人反成了猎物。耶和华因正义荡然无存而不悦。

第三位天使吹号的时候，有一颗好像火炬般燃烧着的巨星从天上坠落在三分之一的江河溪流和水泉里。这颗星名叫“苦艾”，它使三分之一的水都变苦了，许多人因为喝了这种苦水而死去。

万军之耶和华的葡萄园就是以色列，祂所喜爱的葡萄树就是犹大人。祂希望看到公平，却只看见杀戮；指望看到公义，却只听见冤声。

我看得出你正因为嫉妒而心里充满了苦涩，被罪恶捆绑。”
