随后，以扫的弟弟也出生，他的手抓住以扫的脚跟，因此给他起名叫雅各。两个儿子出生时，以撒六十岁。

只剩下雅各一人。有一个人来和他摔跤，直到黎明。那人见自己胜不过他，就摸了他的大腿窝一下。雅各的大腿窝就在和那人摔跤的时候扭了。那人说：“天快亮了，让我走吧！”雅各说：“你不给我祝福，我就不让你走。”那人说：“你叫什么名字？”他说：“雅各。”那人说：“你的名字不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列，因为你与神和人较力，都得胜了。”

双胞胎还没有生下来，善恶还没有行出来，为要贯彻神拣选人的旨意，

所以，你们要彼此认罪，互相代求，使你们得医治。义人祈祷所发的力量是大有功效的。以利亚与我们是同样性情的人，他恳切地祈求不要下雨，地上就三年六个月没有下雨。他又祷告，天就降下雨来，地就有了出产。
