我要懲罰巴比倫的彼勒，使它吐出所吞之物。列國必不再流歸到它那裏，巴比倫的城牆也必坍塌。

巴比倫為列國的榮耀，為迦勒底人所誇耀的華美，必像神所傾覆的所多瑪、蛾摩拉一樣；

有一位大力的天使舉起一塊石頭，好像大磨石，扔在海裏，說：「巴比倫大城也必這樣猛力地被扔下去，絕對見不到了。

他們拿弓和槍，性情殘忍，毫不留情；他們的聲音像海浪澎湃。巴比倫啊，他們騎着馬，如上戰場的人擺列隊伍，要攻擊你。

你們要在萬國中傳揚，宣告，豎立大旗；要宣告，不可隱瞞，說：「巴比倫被攻取，彼勒蒙羞，米羅達驚惶。巴比倫的神像都蒙羞，它的偶像都驚惶。」因有一國從北方上來攻擊它，使它的地荒涼，無人居住，連人帶牲畜都逃走了。

你們要招集一切弓箭手來攻擊巴比倫，在巴比倫四圍安營，不容一人逃脫。要照着它所做的報應它；它怎樣待人，你們也要怎樣待它，因為它向耶和華－以色列的聖者狂傲。

你必唱這詩歌嘲諷巴比倫王說：「欺壓人的竟然滅亡！他的兇暴竟然止息！

彼勒叩拜，尼波屈身；巴比倫的偶像馱在走獸和牲畜背上。你們所抬的成了重馱，使牲畜疲乏。這些神明一同屈身叩拜，不能救自己，反倒遭人擄去。

你們要在境內豎立大旗，在列邦中吹角，使列邦預備攻擊巴比倫。要招集亞拉臘、米尼、亞實基拿各國前來攻擊它，派將軍攻擊它，使馬匹上來如粗暴的蝗蟲；
