You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.

You built a pool between the two walls. You used it to save the water that was running down from the Old Pool. But you didn’t look to the God who made it all possible. You didn’t pay any attention to the God who planned everything long ago.

You made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you did not look to him who did it, or see him who planned it long ago.

Between the city walls, you build a reservoir for water from the old pool. But you never ask for help from the One who did all this. You never considered the One who planned this long ago.

是日也、人將望造之者、其目瞻以色列之聖者、

猶大王西底家、與諸戰士見之、遂夜遁、沿王囿、由兩垣間之門出邑、向亞拉巴而去、

行之者耶和華、造而立之者耶和華、耶和華我名也、爾其籲我、我必應之、示以大而且艱、爾所未知之事、

耶和華掩面於雅各家、我仍徯而望之、

耶和華曰、爾豈未聞我於元始所為、上古所定、今則成之、使爾毀堅城為瓦礫、

是時先見哈拿尼詣猶大王亞撒、謂之曰、因爾恃亞蘭王、不恃爾之上帝耶和華、故亞蘭王之軍脫於爾手、古實人、路比人、其軍非甚大乎、車騎非至多乎、因爾恃耶和華、彼則付於爾手、蓋耶和華之目遍及天下、凡專心向之者、必顯其力以助之、爾所行者愚也、今而後爾必有戰事、

希西家其餘事蹟、與其勇力、以及鑿池掘溝、引水入邑、俱載於猶大列王紀、

則與牧伯勇士議、塞城外水泉、眾遂助之、民集甚多、塞諸水泉、及流經斯土之溪、曰、亞述王來、焉得多水、

若我、則必瞻望耶和華、俟救我之上帝、我上帝必聽我、
