But the Lord of Heaven’s Armies also says:“ The time will come when I will pull out the nail that seemed so firm. It will come out and fall to the ground. Everything it supports will fall with it. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

万军之耶和华宣告：“到那日，那钉在牢固地方的橛子必松脱、被砍断坠落，挂在其上的负载也必被除掉！”这是耶和华说的。

萬軍之永恆主發神諭說：『當那日子、那釘在穩固之處的木橛子必支持不住而彎垂下來；它必被砍斷而墮落地；那掛在上頭的擔子必被剪斷；因為這是永恆主說的。』

萬軍之耶和華宣告：「到那日，那釘在牢固地方的橛子必鬆脫、被砍斷墜落，掛在其上的負載也必被除掉！」這是耶和華說的。

萬軍之耶和華曰、是日也、釘於堅處之釘不牢、被擊而墜、懸於其上者見絕、耶和華言之矣、

萬有之主耶和華曰、維爾設拿、雖釘釘於柱、亦必不堅、所懸之物必墮、我耶和華已言之矣。

萬有之主曰、當是日釘於堅固處之釘必除、見折而墮、懸於其上之物、悉必毀折、蓋主言之矣、

“ In that day,” declares the Lord Almighty,“ the peg driven into the firm place will give way; it will be sheared off and will fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut down.” The Lord has spoken.

“‘ But a new day is coming,’ ” announces the Lord who rules over all.“‘ At that time the peg that was driven into the wall will give way. It will break off and fall down. And the heavy load hanging on it will also fall.’ ” The Lord has spoken.

In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, the peg that was fastened in a secure place will give way, and it will be cut down and fall, and the load that was on it will be cut off, for the Lord has spoken.”

On that day”— the declaration of the LORD of Armies—“ the peg that was driven into a firm place will give way, be cut off, and fall, and the load on it will be destroyed.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.

On that day,” declares the Lord of armies,“ the peg driven into a firm place will give way; it will even break off and fall, and the load that is hanging on it will be cut off, for the Lord has spoken.”

In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts,‘ the peg that is fastened in the secure place will be removed and be cut down and fall, and the burden that was on it will be cut off; for the Lord has spoken.’”

“ In that day,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ the nail that was fastened in a sure place will give way. It will be cut down and fall. The burden that was on it will be cut off, for Yahweh has spoken it.”

Everyone will live in peace and prosperity, enjoying their own grapevines and fig trees, for there will be nothing to fear. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has made this promise!

I will call a swift bird of prey from the east— a leader from a distant land to come and do my bidding. I have said what I would do, and I will do it.

Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews, had plotted to crush and destroy them on the date determined by casting lots( the lots were called purim).But when Esther came before the king, he issued a decree causing Haman’s evil plot to backfire, and Haman and his sons were impaled on a sharpened pole.

He will bring honor to his family name, for I will drive him firmly in place like a nail in the wall.

But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and uproot you from the land of the living. Interlude

You will become an object of mockery and taunting and horror. You will be a warning to all the nations around you. They will see what happens when the Lord punishes a nation in anger and rebukes it, says the Lord.

Then at last my anger will be spent, and I will be satisfied. And when my fury against them has subsided, all Israel will know that I, the Lord, have spoken to them in my jealous anger.

So the Jews went ahead on the appointed day and struck down their enemies with the sword. They killed and annihilated their enemies and did as they pleased with those who hated them.In the fortress of Susa itself, the Jews killed 500 men.They also killed Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha,Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha,Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vaizatha—the ten sons of Haman son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews. But they did not take any plunder.That very day, when the king was informed of the number of people killed in the fortress of Susa,he called for Queen Esther. He said,“ The Jews have killed 500 men in the fortress of Susa alone, as well as Haman’s ten sons. If they have done that here, what has happened in the rest of the provinces? But now, what more do you want? It will be granted to you; tell me and I will do it.”Esther responded,“ If it please the king, give the Jews in Susa permission to do again tomorrow as they have done today, and let the bodies of Haman’s ten sons be impaled on a pole.”So the king agreed, and the decree was announced in Susa. And they impaled the bodies of Haman’s ten sons.

The earth will mourn and the heavens will be draped in black because of my decree against my people. I have made up my mind and will not change it.”

This is what the Lord says:“ Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.

Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.

And along with the famine, wild animals will attack you and rob you of your children. Disease and war will stalk your land, and I will bring the sword of the enemy against you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

“ I have said it: I am calling Cyrus! I will send him on this errand and will help him succeed.

This is what the Lord, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, said to me:“ Confront Shebna, the palace administrator, and give him this message:“ Who do you think you are, and what are you doing here, building a beautiful tomb for yourself— a monument high up in the rock?
