王進來見賓客，看到那裏有一個沒有穿禮服的，就對他說：『朋友，你到這裏來怎麼不穿禮服呢？』那人無言可答。於是王對侍從說：『捆起他的手腳，把他扔在外邊的黑暗裏；在那裏他要哀哭切齒了。』

哀哉，這日子！因為耶和華的日子臨近，好像毀滅從全能者來到。

可以把烈酒給將亡的人喝，把酒給心裏愁苦的人喝，

他們在床上呼號，卻不誠心哀求我；他們為求五穀新酒而聚集，卻背叛我。

新酒悲哀，葡萄樹凋殘，心中歡樂的都嘆息。擊鼓之樂停止，狂歡者的喧嘩止住，彈琴之樂也停止了。人不再飲酒唱歌，喝烈酒的，必以為苦。

田園中不再有歡喜快樂，葡萄園裏必無人歌唱，無人歡呼，在壓酒池中踹酒的不再踹酒了，我使歡呼的聲音止息了。

城門口不再有老年人，年輕人也不再奏樂。我們心中的快樂止息，跳舞轉為悲哀。

亞伯拉罕說：『孩子啊，你該回想你生前享過福，拉撒路也同樣受過苦，如今他在這裏得安慰，你卻受痛苦。

因萬軍之耶和華的烈怒，地都燒遍了；百姓成為柴火，無人憐惜弟兄。

因此，主耶和華－萬軍之神如此說：「在一切的廣場上必有哀號的聲音；在各街市上必有人說：『哀哉！哀哉！』他們叫農夫來哭號，叫善唱哀歌的來舉哀；各葡萄園都有哀號的聲音，因為我必從你中間經過。」這是耶和華說的。想望耶和華日子的人有禍了！為甚麼你們要耶和華的日子呢？那是黑暗沒有光明的日子，好像人躲避獅子卻遇見熊；進房屋以手靠牆，卻被蛇咬。耶和華的日子豈不是黑暗沒有光明，幽暗毫無光輝嗎？

刺草和荊棘要長在我百姓的田地上，長在歡樂城中一切快樂家園上。

俯察下地，看哪，盡是艱難、黑暗和駭人的昏暗。他必被趕入幽暗中去。

肥田和摩押地的歡喜快樂都被奪去，我使酒池不再流出酒來，無人踹酒歡呼；呼喊的聲音不再是歡呼。
