The fearful heart will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.

Even the hotheads will be full of sense and understanding. Those who stammer will speak out plainly.

The reckless mind will gain knowledge, and the stammering tongue will speak clearly and fluently.

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.Utterly amazed, they asked:“ Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome( both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs— we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another,“ What does this mean?” (niv)

But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. (niv)

and your mouth like the best wine. May the wine go straight to my beloved, flowing gently over lips and teeth. (niv)

“ I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth.And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them.Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. I was so obsessed with persecuting them that I even hunted them down in foreign cities. (niv)

Jesus replied,“ Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (niv)

They only heard the report:“ The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” (niv)

They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.Nehemiah said,“ Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”The Levites calmed all the people, saying,“ Be still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.”Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them. (niv)
