Listen to me, all you in distant lands! Pay attention, you who are far away! The Lord called me before my birth; from within the womb he called me by name.

As your name deserves, O God, you will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.

Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called“ uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups.Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near.Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!Then Nebuchadnezzar said,“ Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.Therefore, I make this decree: If any people, whatever their race or nation or language, speak a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they will be torn limb from limb, and their houses will be turned into heaps of rubble. There is no other god who can rescue like this!”Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to even higher positions in the province of Babylon.King Nebuchadnezzar sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world:“ Peace and prosperity to you!“ I want you all to know about the miraculous signs and wonders the Most High God has performed for me.How great are his signs, how powerful his wonders! His kingdom will last forever, his rule through all generations.

The Lord sits in majesty in Jerusalem, exalted above all the nations.Let them praise your great and awesome name. Your name is holy!

“ I know the Lord has given you this land,” she told them.“ We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror.For we have heard how the Lord made a dry path for you through the Red Sea when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed.No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.

Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel!

All you people of the world, everyone who lives on the earth— when I raise my battle flag on the mountain, look! When I blow the ram’s horn, listen!

Then King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world:“ Peace and prosperity to you!“ I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule will never end.He rescues and saves his people; he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power; then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone, O Lord, are God.”

The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts!The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. InterludeCome, see the glorious works of the Lord: See how he brings destruction upon the world.He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.“ Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude

The peoples hear and tremble; anguish grips those who live in Philistia.

Jerusalem has heard and rejoiced, and all the towns of Judah are glad because of your justice, O Lord!

They answered,“ Your servants have come from a very distant country. We have heard of the might of the Lord your God and of all he did in Egypt.We have also heard what he did to the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River— King Sihon of Heshbon and King Og of Bashan( who lived in Ashtaroth).

He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the Lord!

Glorify the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!For he has strengthened the bars of your gates and blessed your children within your walls.He sends peace across your nation and satisfies your hunger with the finest wheat.

At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem.When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers.They were completely amazed.“ How can this be?” they exclaimed.“ These people are all from Galilee,and yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages!Here we are— Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia,Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome( both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!”

Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; his holy arm has shown his saving power!The Lord has announced his victory and has revealed his righteousness to every nation!
