論到大馬士革，耶和華說：“哈馬和亞珥拔紛亂不安，因為他們聽到了壞消息；他們的心融化，焦慮慌張，像不能平靜的海洋。

迦勒挪不是像迦基米施嗎？哈瑪不是像亞珥拔嗎？撒瑪利亞不是像大馬士革嗎？我的手伸展到這些充滿偶像的國，他們雕刻的像比耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的還多。我怎樣對待撒瑪利亞和其中的偶像，不也照樣對待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像嗎？”

從何珥山起畫界，直到哈馬口，使邊界直到西達達；

你必定聽過亞述列王向列國所行的，就是把她們完全毀滅，難道你還有救嗎？我列祖所毀滅的國，有歌撒、哈蘭、利色和在提．拉撒的伊甸人，這些國的神曾拯救她們嗎？哈馬的王、亞珥拔的王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿和以瓦的王，現在都在哪裡呢？”

哈馬王陀以聽見大衛打敗了哈大底謝的全軍，

過了三年，他們就攻取了撒瑪利亞。希西家在位第六年，就是以色列王何細亞在位第九年，撒瑪利亞被攻取了。亞述王把以色列人擄到亞述去，把他們安置在哈臘、哈博河和歌散河，以及瑪代人的城裡；這是因為他們不聽從耶和華他們神的話，違背他的約；耶和華的僕人摩西吩咐的一切，他們都不聽從，不遵行。

亞述王從巴比倫、古他、亞瓦、哈馬和西法瓦音帶人來，安置在撒瑪利亞的城市，代替以色列人。他們就得了撒瑪利亞作產業，住在它的城市中。

亞述王上來攻擊以色列全國各地，並且到撒瑪利亞來，圍城三年。何細亞在位第九年，亞述王佔領了撒瑪利亞，把以色列人擄到亞述去，安置他們在哈臘，在哈博河和歌散河一帶，以及在瑪代人的各城。這是因為以色列人得罪了那曾帶領他們從埃及王法老的手下離開埃及的耶和華他們的神，去敬畏別的神。
