No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

They are planted. They are scattered like seeds. They put down roots in the ground. But as soon as that happens, God blows on them and they dry up. Then a windstorm sweeps them away like straw.

Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown, scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them, and they wither, and the tempest carries them off like stubble.

外國之民怒號着，就像大水之怒號。但上帝叱責他們，他們就遠遠地逃跑，又被追趕、如同山上的風前糠，又如暴風前的滾轉草。

永恆主說：「看吧，我必使災禍臨到你；必除滅你；在以色列中凡屬亞哈的男丁、無論自主不自主、我都要剪滅淨盡。我必使你的家像尼八的兒子耶羅波安的家，又像亞希雅的兒子巴沙的家，都因為你惹我發怒，又因為你使以色列人犯了罪的緣故。」

因此他們必像早晨的雲霧，又如早散的朝露，好像糠粃從禾場上旋轉起，又像煙氣騰於格子窗外。

永恆主這麼說：『要把這個人登記為無子嗣位的，是儘他一生日子都不亨通順利的，因為他後裔中無一人亨通順利能坐大衛寶座，或再統治猶大的。』

永恆主必顯現在他們以上；他的箭必射出如閃電；主永恆主必吹號角，乘南方的旋風而行。

永恆主已發出命令指着你來說：『屬你名下的人必不能夠傳種；我必從你的神廟中把雕像和鑄像剪除掉；我必使你的墳墓成了糞堆。』

永恆主的氣一吹在上頭，草就枯乾，花就凋殘；啊，人真是草。

『我用旋風吹散他們到他們所不認識的列國去。這樣、國土在他們去後也就變為荒涼，甚至無人來回經過；因為他們使可喜愛之地荒涼了。』

這樣、凡屬亞哈家在耶斯列所剩下的人、他所有的贖業至親、知己和祭司、耶戶都擊殺掉了，殺到沒有給他剩下一個殘存的。

永恆主的叱責一發，他鼻孔的氣息一呼出，海底就出現，大地的根基也現露。

儘管他像菖蒲那麼茂盛，也必有熱東風颳來，必有永恆主的風從曠野颳上來；他的水泉就乾涸，他的泉源就旱竭了；風必掠奪他所貯藏的一切寶器。

你們向慕着多，你看，卻得的少；你們收到家裏，我給吹去。為甚麼？萬軍之永恆主發神諭說：因為我的殿荒廢，而你們各人卻逕為自己的房屋奔跑啊。

下邊他的根頭枯乾；上邊他的枝條被割下他令人懷念的遺跡都從境內滅沒；他的名字不存留於野外。他必從光中被攆到黑暗裏，他必被趕逐離開世界。在本族民中他沒有苗裔、沒有後代。在寓居的各地、他也沒有殘存的人。

願他們不知不覺被割掉像荊棘，像蒺藜像刺草，願他就用旋風給一齊颳去！

他不能脫離黑暗；他的幼枝、火焰必燒乾，他必因上帝口中的氣而過去。他不可信靠虛假，而走迷了路，因為虛假必成為他的報應。他的日期未到之先、這事就必成就，他的枝子不能青綠。他必像葡萄樹掉落末熟的葡萄，又像橄欖樹的花、一開便謝。

他憑義氣為貧寒人申正義，以正直判斷國中的困苦人；他以口中的杖擊打強橫人，以嘴裏的氣殺死惡人。

看哪，永恆主的旋風！他的震怒已經發出！是旋轉的狂風，必旋轉到惡人的頭上。

他們何嘗像風前的禾藁？像暴風颳去的糠粃呢？

恐懼臨到你們、好像狂風，災難來到、如同風暴；艱難困苦臨到你們身上：

你們要豫備屠殺他的子孫，因為他們的父有罪孽，免得他們興起來，擁有轄地，而佈滿了世界上。』萬軍之永恆主發神諭說：『我必起來攻擊他們，將巴比倫剪滅掉，其名號及血統，其苗裔及後代，都剪滅：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

他們由上帝噓的氣而滅亡；由上帝怒氣的風而消沒。

看吧，我必使他靈機一動，就聽見風聲，而回他本地去；我必使他在他本地那裏倒斃於刀下。」』

你雖在栽的日子設法使它長大，在種的晨光培養它開花，但在憂患的日子、無法醫治的傷痛之時、所收割的都飛走了。

因為有一個焚燒處早已安排好了，居然又是為了君王而豫備的，又深又寬；它堆的是火跟許多木柴；永恆主的氣如一條硫磺火流，把它點𤏲起來。
