For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

我今新有制作、將即彰明、備途於曠野、濬川於荒郊、爾豈不以為意乎。

今我創一新事、立即彰顯、爾必得知、我將備道於曠野、濬川於沙漠、

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

I am about to do something new. It is beginning to happen even now. Don’t you see it coming? I am going to make a way for you to go through the desert. I will make streams of water in the dry and empty land.

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

You have heard my predictions and seen them fulfilled, but you refuse to admit it. Now I will tell you new things, secrets you have not yet heard.

Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.”

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

And the one sitting on the throne said,“ Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me,“ Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. I will fill the desert with pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground.

How long will you wander, my wayward daughter? For the Lord will cause something new to happen— Israel will embrace her God.”

He made streams pour from the rock, making the waters flow down like a river!Yet they kept on sinning against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert.They stubbornly tested God in their hearts, demanding the foods they craved.They even spoke against God himself, saying,“ God can’t give us food in the wilderness.Yes, he can strike a rock so water gushes out, but he can’t give his people bread and meat.”

Isaiah had spoken of John when he said,“ He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened, and the rough places made smooth.

The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland.The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land. Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish where desert jackals once lived.And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there.Lions will not lurk along its course, nor any other ferocious beasts. There will be no other dangers. Only the redeemed will walk on it.Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.” So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.

He split open a rock, and water gushed out to form a river through the dry wasteland.

Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill.

They were not thirsty when he led them through the desert. He divided the rock, and water gushed out for them to drink.“ But there is no peace for the wicked,” says the Lord.

Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting,“ Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places.

Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock!
