I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things.

You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl.The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.Then people go out to their work, to their labor until evening. (niv)

If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed,and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned.And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted,and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling— these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. (niv)
