Now therefore hear this, thou that art given to pleasures, that sittest securely, that sayest in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

“因此，你这骄奢的人哪——你安然居住，心里说：‘只有我，除我以外再没有别的；我必不会寡居，也不会经历丧子之事。’——现在你要听这话：

「因此，你這驕奢的人哪——你安然居住，心裡說：『只有我，除我以外再沒有別的；我必不會寡居，也不會經歷喪子之事。』——現在你要聽這話：

爾宴樂安居、自謂有我、我外無他、必不孤坐為嫠、亦不喪子、爾其聽諸、

然爾淫佚之婦、僣稱主母、自謂無能比儗、必不夫亡子喪。吾語汝、

今爾當聽、爾如逸樂之婦、安然而居、心自妄思、惟獨有我、再無他國、不至為嫠、永不喪子、

“ Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security and saying to yourself,‘ I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.’

“ So listen, you who love pleasure. You think you are safe and secure. You say to yourself,‘ I am like a god. No one is greater than I am. I’ll never be a widow. And my children will never be taken away from me.’

Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me; I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children”:

“ Listen to this, you pleasure loving kingdom, living at ease and feeling secure. You say,‘ I am the only one, and there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose my children.’

“ So now hear this, lover of luxury, who sits securely, who says to herself,‘ I am, and there is no one else. I will never be a widow or know the loss of children.’

“ Now, then, hear this, you luxuriant one, Who lives securely, Who says in her heart,‘ I am, and there is no one besides me. I will not sit as a widow, Nor know the loss of children.’

“ Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart,‘ I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’;

“ So now hear this, lover of luxury, who sits securely, who says to herself,‘ I exist, and there is no one else. I will never be a widow or know the loss of children.’

Therefore hear now this,[ thou that art] given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I[ am], and none else beside me; I shall not sit[ as] a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

So now, listen to this, O one who lives so lavishly, who lives securely, who says to herself,‘ I am unique! No one can compare to me! I will never have to live as a widow; I will never lose my children.’

“ Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart,‘ I am, and there is no one else besides me. I won’t sit as a widow, neither will I know the loss of children.’

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

Rise up, ye women that are at ease, and hear my voice; ye careless daughters, give ear unto my speech.

that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me: I am Jehovah, and there is none else.

Because ye are glad, because ye rejoice, O ye that plunder my heritage, because ye are wanton as a heifer that treadeth out the grain, and neigh as strong horses;

For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness; thou hast said, None seeth me; thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee, and thou hast said in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me.

For thus saith Jehovah that created the heavens, the God that formed the earth and made it, that established it and created it not a waste, that formed it to be inhabited: I am Jehovah; and there is none else.

Yea, moreover, wine is treacherous, a haughty man, that keepeth not at home; who enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples.Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and that ladeth himself with pledges!Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booty unto them?Because thou hast plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder thee, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein.

Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall destroyers come unto her, saith Jehovah.

For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly as dry stubble.

For by the wine of the wrath of her fornication all the nations are fallen; and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth waxed rich by the power of her wantonness.And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come forth, my people, out of her, that ye have no fellowship with her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues:for her sins have reached even unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.Render unto her even as she rendered, and double unto her the double according to her works: in the cup which she mingled, mingle unto her double.How much soever she glorified herself, and waxed wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall in no wise see mourning.Therefore in one day shall her plagues come, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire; for strong is the Lord God who judged her.

he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.

Behold, I am against thee, O thou proud one, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts; for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.And the proud one shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all that are round about him.

My heart fluttereth, horror hath affrighted me; the twilight that I desired hath been turned into trembling unto me.They prepare the table, they set the watch, they eat, they drink: rise up, ye princes, anoint the shield.

it is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong; for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, might drink therefrom.Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, drank from them.They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
