「因此，你這驕奢的人哪——你安然居住，心裡說：『只有我，除我以外再沒有別的；我必不會寡居，也不會經歷喪子之事。』——現在你要聽這話：

爾宴樂安居、自謂有我、我外無他、必不孤坐為嫠、亦不喪子、爾其聽諸、

然爾淫佚之婦、僣稱主母、自謂無能比儗、必不夫亡子喪。吾語汝、

今爾當聽、爾如逸樂之婦、安然而居、心自妄思、惟獨有我、再無他國、不至為嫠、永不喪子、

“ Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security and saying to yourself,‘ I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.’

“ So listen, you who love pleasure. You think you are safe and secure. You say to yourself,‘ I am like a god. No one is greater than I am. I’ll never be a widow. And my children will never be taken away from me.’

“ Listen to this, you pleasure loving kingdom, living at ease and feeling secure. You say,‘ I am the only one, and there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose my children.’

“ Now, then, hear this, you luxuriant one, Who lives securely, Who says in her heart,‘ I am, and there is no one besides me. I will not sit as a widow, Nor know the loss of children.’

“ Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures, Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart,‘ I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’;

Now therefore hear this, thou that art given to pleasures, that sittest securely, that sayest in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

So now, listen to this, O one who lives so lavishly, who lives securely, who says to herself,‘ I am unique! No one can compare to me! I will never have to live as a widow; I will never lose my children.’

“ Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart,‘ I am, and there is no one else besides me. I won’t sit as a widow, neither will I know the loss of children.’

This is the jubilant city that lives in security, that says to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her scoffs and shakes his fist.

Stand up, you complacent women; listen to me. Pay attention to what I say, you overconfident daughters.

so that all may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is no one but me. I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Because you rejoice, because you celebrate— you who plundered my inheritance— because you frolic like a young cow treading grain and neigh like stallions,

You were secure in your wickedness; you said,‘ No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge led you astray. You said to yourself,‘ I am, and there is no one else.’

For this is what the LORD says— the Creator of the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, the one who established it( he did not create it to be a wasteland, but formed it to be inhabited)— he says,“ I am the LORD, and there is no other.

On that day the Lord GOD of Armies called for weeping, for wailing, for shaven heads, and for the wearing of sackcloth.But look: joy and gladness, butchering of cattle, slaughtering of sheep and goats, eating of meat, and drinking of wine—“ Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

Moreover, wine betrays; an arrogant man is never at rest. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, and like Death he is never satisfied. He gathers all the nations to himself; he collects all the peoples for himself.Won’t all of these take up a taunt against him, with mockery and riddles about him? They will say,“ Woe to him who amasses what is not his— how much longer?— and loads himself with goods taken in pledge.”Won’t your creditors suddenly arise, and those who disturb you wake up? Then you will become spoil for them.Since you have plundered many nations, all the peoples who remain will plunder you— because of human bloodshed and violence against lands, cities, and all who live in them.

Even if Babylon should ascend to the heavens and fortify her tall fortresses, destroyers will come against her from me. This is the LORD’s declaration.

For they will be consumed like entangled thorns, like the drink of a drunkard and like straw that is fully dry.

For all the nations have drunk the wine of her sexual immorality, which brings wrath. The kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown wealthy from her sensuality and excess.Then I heard another voice from heaven: Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive any of her plagues.For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.Pay her back the way she also paid, and double it according to her works. In the cup in which she mixed, mix a double portion for her.As much as she glorified herself and indulged her sensual and excessive ways, give her that much torment and grief. For she says in her heart,“ I sit as a queen; I am not a widow, and I will never see grief.”For this reason her plagues will come in just one day— death and grief and famine. She will be burned up with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is mighty.

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in God’s temple, proclaiming that he himself is God.

Look, I am against you, you arrogant one— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD of Armies— for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.The arrogant will stumble and fall with no one to pick him up. I will set fire to his cities, and it will consume everything around him.

My heart staggers; horror terrifies me. He has turned my last glimmer of hope into sheer terror.Prepare a table, and spread out a carpet! Eat and drink! Rise up, you princes, and oil the shields!

that tree is you, Your Majesty. For you have become great and strong: your greatness has grown and even reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to the ends of the earth.

the king exclaimed,“ Is this not Babylon the Great that I have built to be a royal residence by my vast power and for my majestic glory?”

Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of the heavens. The vessels from his house were brought to you, and as you and your nobles, wives, and concubines drank wine from them, you praised the gods made of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or understand. But you have not glorified the God who holds your life-breath in his hand and who controls the whole course of your life.
