For I knew how stubborn you were; your neck muscles were iron, your forehead was bronze.

I knew how stubborn you were. Your neck muscles were as unbending as iron. Your forehead was as hard as bronze.

Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass,

For I know how stubborn and obstinate you are. Your necks are as unbending as iron. Your heads are as hard as bronze.

Because I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is iron and your forehead bronze,

Because I know that you are obstinate, And your neck is an iron tendon And your forehead bronze,

Because I knew that you were obstinate, And your neck was an iron sinew, And your brow bronze,

Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

Because I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is iron and your forehead bronze,

“ You stiff- necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! (niv)

“ I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses,“ and they are a stiff-necked people. (niv)

Whoever remains stiff- necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed— without remedy. (niv)

“ But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and covered their ears.They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the Lord Almighty was very angry. (niv)

Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’” (niv)

Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.” (niv)

“ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says:‘ Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff- necked and would not listen to my words.’” (niv)

For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the Lord while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die! (niv)

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him take an oath in God’s name. He became stiff-necked and hardened his heart and would not turn to the Lord, the God of Israel. (niv)

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. (niv)

Listen to me, you stubborn- hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness. (niv)

For the Lord had said to Moses,“ Tell the Israelites,‘ You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go with you even for a moment, I might destroy you. Now take off your ornaments and I will decide what to do with you.’” (niv)

Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. (niv)

But they would not listen and were as stiff-necked as their ancestors, who did not trust in the Lord their God. (niv)

“ But they, our ancestors, became arrogant and stiff- necked, and they did not obey your commands.They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them, (niv)

They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him. (niv)

He then said to me:“ Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them.You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language, but to the people of Israel—not to many peoples of obscure speech and strange language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are.I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.” (niv)

But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’ (niv)

“ But as soon as they were at rest, they again did what was evil in your sight. Then you abandoned them to the hand of their enemies so that they ruled over them. And when they cried out to you again, you heard from heaven, and in your compassion you delivered them time after time. (niv)
