Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.

因此，我的子民必因他們的無知被擄走；他們的尊貴人飢餓，他們的民眾極其乾渴。

是以我民因無知而被虜、尊者飢困、庶民燥渴、

我民無知、為人所擄、尊者飢、黎民渴。

故我民因無知、遂被遷移外邦、其尊者饑而死、民眾渴而憊、

Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding; those of high rank will die of hunger and the common people will be parched with thirst.

So my people will be taken away as prisoners. That’s because they don’t understand what the Lord has done. Their nobles will die of hunger. The rest of the people won’t have any water to drink.

Therefore my people go into exile for lack of knowledge; their honored men go hungry, and their multitude is parched with thirst.

So my people will go into exile far away because they do not know me. Those who are great and honored will starve, and the common people will die of thirst.

Therefore my people will go into exile because they lack knowledge; her dignitaries are starving, and her masses are parched with thirst.

Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; And their nobles are famished, And their multitude is parched with thirst.

Therefore my people are gone into captivity for lack of knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude are parched with thirst.

Therefore My people will go into exile because they lack knowledge; her dignitaries are starving, and her masses are parched with thirst.

Therefore my people will be deported because of their lack of understanding. Their leaders will have nothing to eat, their masses will have nothing to drink.

Therefore my people go into captivity for lack of knowledge. Their honorable men are famished, and their multitudes are parched with thirst.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

The ox knows its owner And the donkey its master’s crib; But Israel does not know, My people do not consider.”

When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off; The women come and set them on fire. For it is a people of no understanding; Therefore He who made them will not have mercy on them, And He who formed them will show them no favor.

“ Woe to you, blind guides, who say,‘ Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?And,‘ Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged to perform it.’Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it.He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it.And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it.“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

Their nobles have sent their lads for water; They went to the cisterns and found no water. They returned with their vessels empty; They were ashamed and confounded And covered their heads.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

Therefore the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They defeated him, and carried away a great multitude of them as captives, and brought them to Damascus. Then he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed one hundred and twenty thousand in Judah in one day, all valiant men, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king’s son, Azrikam the officer over the house, and Elkanah who was second to the king.And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters; and they also took away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says,“ Restore!”Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the Lord, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, Nor were they obedient to His law.Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger And the strength of battle; It has set him on fire all around, Yet he did not know; And it burned him, Yet he did not take it to heart.

If I go out to the field, Then behold, those slain with the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold, those sick from famine! Yes, both prophet and priest go about in a land they do not know.’”

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,

Your country is desolate, Your cities are burned with fire; Strangers devour your land in your presence; And it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

“ Even the stork in the heavens Knows her appointed times; And the turtledove, the swift, and the swallow Observe the time of their coming. But My people do not know the judgment of the Lord.

and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

Those slain by the sword are better off Than those who die of hunger; For these pine away, Stricken for lack of the fruits of the field.

The tongue of the infant clings To the roof of its mouth for thirst; The young children ask for bread, But no one breaks it for them.Those who ate delicacies Are desolate in the streets; Those who were brought up in scarlet Embrace ash heaps.

“ In that day the fair virgins And strong young men Shall faint from thirst.
