He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

主耶和華如此說：「我要將香柏樹梢擰去栽上，就是從儘尖的嫩枝中折一嫩枝，栽於極高的山上；在以色列高處的山栽上。它就生枝子，結果子，成為佳美的香柏樹，各類飛鳥都必宿在其下，就是宿在枝子的蔭下。田野的樹木都必知道我－耶和華使高樹矮小，矮樹高大；青樹枯乾，枯樹發旺。我－耶和華如此說，也如此行了。」

他在世界，世界也是藉着他造的，世界卻不認識他。他到自己的地方來，自己的人倒不接待他。凡接待他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜他們權柄作神的兒女。這等人不是從血氣生的，不是從情慾生的，也不是從人意生的，乃是從神生的。道成了肉身，住在我們中間，充充滿滿地有恩典有真理。我們也見過他的榮光，正是父獨生子的榮光。

耶穌說：「以利亞固然先來復興萬事；經上不是指着人子說，他要受許多的苦被人輕慢呢？

耶和華說：「日子將到，我要給大衛興起一個公義的苗裔；他必掌王權，行事有智慧，在地上施行公平和公義。

這不是那木匠嗎？不是馬利亞的兒子雅各、約西、猶大、西門的長兄嗎？他妹妹們不也是在我們這裏嗎？」他們就厭棄他。

那日是預備逾越節的日子，約有午正。彼拉多對猶太人說：「看哪，這是你們的王！」他們喊着說：「除掉他！除掉他！釘他在十字架上！」彼拉多說：「我可以把你們的王釘十字架嗎？」祭司長回答說：「除了凱撒，我們沒有王。」

耶穌說：「狐狸有洞，天空的飛鳥有窩，只是人子沒有枕頭的地方。」

耶穌出來，戴着荊棘冠冕，穿着紫袍。彼拉多對他們說：「你們看這個人！」

律法既因肉體軟弱，有所不能行的，神就差遣自己的兒子，成為罪身的形狀，作了贖罪祭，在肉體中定了罪案，

他們就罵他說：「你是他的門徒；我們是摩西的門徒。神對摩西說話是我們知道的；只是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裏來！」

或是君王所派罰惡賞善的臣宰。

對他說，萬軍之耶和華如此說：看哪，那名稱為大衛苗裔的，他要在本處長起來，並要建造耶和華的殿。

他們又喊着說：「不要這人，要巴拉巴！」這巴拉巴是個強盜。

約瑟和馬利亞照主的律法辦完了一切的事，就回加利利，到自己的城拿撒勒去了。孩子漸漸長大，強健起來，充滿智慧，又有神的恩在他身上。

就生了頭胎的兒子，用布包起來，放在馬槽裏，因為客店裏沒有地方。

他就同他們下去，回到拿撒勒，並且順從他們。他母親把這一切的事都存在心裏。耶穌的智慧和身量，並神和人喜愛他的心，都一齊增長。
