You wearied yourself by such going about, but you would not say,‘ It is hopeless.’ You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.

不要使你的腳赤露，你的喉嚨乾渴！你卻說：‘沒用的！因為我愛外族人的神，我要跟從他們！’

他們卻說：‘沒用的！我們要隨著自己的計劃而行，各人要按著自己頑梗的惡心行事。’”

他們各人都欺騙自己的鄰舍，不說誠實話。他們訓練自己的舌頭說謊話，竭力作孽，以致他們不能回轉（按照《馬索拉文本》，本句意思難確定；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）。

耶和華啊！你的眼目不是要看誠實的事嗎？你擊打他們，他們卻不覺得傷痛；你摧毀他們，他們仍不肯接受管教。他們板著臉，臉皮比磐石還硬，總不肯回轉。

你因你許多的計劃而勞累；現在讓那些劃分天象的，觀看星辰的，在月朔時說預言的，都站起來，拯救你脫離要臨到你身上的事。

眾民勞碌得來的，被火焚燒；列國辛勞而得的，終歸無有。這不都出於萬軍之耶和華嗎？

你為甚麼要東奔西跑，改變你的路向呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像你從前因亞述受辱一樣。

所以甘霖停止，春雨不降；你還是一副妓女的面孔（“面孔”原文作“額”），不顧羞恥。

我們口中說過的一切話，我們一定去作，我們要向天后燒香，澆奠祭，好像我們自己和我們的列祖，以及我們的君王和領袖，在猶大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上所行的一樣。那時我們吃得飽，得享福樂，不見災禍。但是，自從我們停止向天后燒香和澆奠祭以後，我們就樣樣都缺乏，又因刀劍和饑荒滅亡。”

在沒有律法的時候，我是活的；但誡命一來，罪就活了，我就死了。

這亞哈斯王在急難的時候，竟越發冒犯耶和華。他向擊敗了他的大馬士革的神獻祭，說：“亞蘭王的神幫助了他們，我也向它們獻祭，使它們也幫助我。”它們卻使他和以色列人滅亡。

這鍋真叫人疲累！它厚厚的鏽總沒法除掉，就是用火也不能除掉。
