You wearied yourself by such going about, but you would not say,‘ It is hopeless.’ You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.

You wore yourself out with all your efforts. But you would not say,‘ It’s hopeless.’ You received new strength. So you did not give up.

You were wearied with the length of your way, but you did not say,“ It is hopeless”; you found new life for your strength, and so you were not faint.

You grew weary in your search, but you never gave up. Desire gave you renewed strength, and you did not grow weary.

你不要弄到赤足而行，喉咙干渴。你却说：‘没有用的，我喜爱陌生人，我必随从他们。’”

“他们却说：‘没有用的，我们要照自己的计谋去行，各人要随自己顽梗的恶心行事。’”

他们互相欺骗，不说真话，训练自己的舌头说谎，竭尽所能地作恶。

耶和华啊，你的眼目不是在寻找诚实吗？你击打他们，他们却不伤恸；你摧毁他们，他们仍不领受管教。他们使脸刚硬过于磐石，不肯回头。

你筹划太多，以致疲倦。让那些观天象，看星宿，在初一说预言的都起来，救你脱离所要临到你的事！

看哪，这不都是出于万军之耶和华吗？万民劳碌得来的被火焚烧，万族辛苦建造的，归于虚空。

你为何东奔西跑改变你的道路呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像从前因亚述蒙羞一样。

因此甘霖停止，春雨不降。你还是一副娼妓之脸，不顾羞耻。

我们定要照我们口中所说的一切话去做，向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，按着我们与我们祖先、君王、官长在犹大城镇和耶路撒冷街市上素常所做的一样；因为那时我们得以吃饱、享福乐，并未遇见灾祸。自从我们停止向天后烧香，献浇酒祭，我们倒缺乏这一切，又因刀剑饥荒灭绝。”

以前没有律法的时候，我是活的；但是诫命来到，罪活起来，

这亚哈斯王在急难的时候，越发得罪耶和华。他向那攻击他的大马士革的神明献祭，说：“因为亚兰王的神明帮助他们，我也要向这些神明献祭，好让它们帮助我。”但那些神明却使他和全以色列败亡。

然而这一切劳碌无效，它厚厚的锈，即使用火也除不掉。
