He has sent me to announce the year when he will set his people free. He wants me to announce the day when he will pay his enemies back. Our God has sent me to comfort all those who are sad.

Those who mourn are blessed, for they will be comforted.

For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a time of paying back Edom for its hostility against Zion.

I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,

Then the young woman will rejoice with dancing, while young and old men rejoice together. I will turn their mourning into joy, give them consolation, and bring happiness out of grief.

“ For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Hosts,“ not leaving them root or branches.But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall.You will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the Lord of Hosts.

Then you are to sound a trumpet loudly in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month; you will sound it throughout your land on the Day of Atonement.You are to consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim freedom in the land for all its inhabitants. It will be your Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his property and each of you to his clan.The fiftieth year will be your Jubilee; you are not to sow, reap what grows by itself, or harvest its untended vines.It is to be holy to you because it is the Jubilee; you may only eat its produce directly from the field.“ In this Year of Jubilee, each of you will return to his property.

Turning to the woman, He said to Simon,“ Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she, with her tears, has washed My feet and wiped them with her hair.You gave Me no kiss, but she hasn’t stopped kissing My feet since I came in.You didn’t anoint My head with olive oil, but she has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little.”Then He said to her,“ Your sins are forgiven.”Those who were at the table with Him began to say among themselves,“ Who is this man who even forgives sins?”And He said to the woman,“ Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

He put on righteousness like a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and He wrapped Himself in zeal as in a cloak.So He will repay according to their deeds: fury to His enemies, retribution to His foes, and He will repay the coastlands.

“ I assure you: You will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.When a woman is in labor she has pain because her time has come. But when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the suffering because of the joy that a person has been born into the world.So you also have sorrow now. But I will see you again. Your hearts will rejoice, and no one will rob you of your joy.

For He says: I heard you in an acceptable time, and I helped you in the day of salvation. Look, now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation.

and to reward with rest you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His powerful angels,taking vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from His glorious strength

Who is this coming from Edom in crimson-stained garments from Bozrah— this One who is splendid in His apparel, rising up proudly in His great might? It is I, proclaiming vindication, powerful to save.Why are Your clothes red, and Your garments like one who treads a winepress?I trampled the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with Me. I trampled them in My anger and ground them underfoot in My fury; their blood spattered My garments, and all My clothes were stained.For I planned the day of vengeance, and the year of My redemption came.I looked, but there was no one to help, and I was amazed that no one assisted; so My arm accomplished victory for Me, and My wrath assisted Me.I crushed nations in My anger; I made them drunk with My wrath and poured out their blood on the ground.

This is what the Lord says: I will answer you in a time of favor, and I will help you in the day of salvation. I will keep you, and I will appoint you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land, to make them possess the desolate inheritances,

That day belongs to the Lord, the God of Hosts, a day of vengeance to avenge Himself against His adversaries. The sword will devour and be satisfied; it will drink its fill of their blood, because it will be a sacrifice to the Lord, the God of Hosts, in the northern land by the Euphrates River.

You who are now hungry are blessed, because you will be filled. You who now weep are blessed, because you will laugh.

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.

He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.For as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so through Christ our comfort also overflows.

because these are days of vengeance to fulfill all the things that are written.Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for there will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive into all the nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

You will see, you will rejoice, and you will flourish like grass; then the Lord’s power will be revealed to His servants, but He will show His wrath against His enemies.

He will destroy death forever. The Lord God will wipe away the tears from every face and remove His people’s disgrace from the whole earth, for the Lord has spoken.

Be glad for Jerusalem and rejoice over her, all who love her. Rejoice greatly with her, all who mourn over her—so that you may nurse and be satisfied from her comforting breast and drink deeply and delight yourselves from her glorious breasts.For this is what the Lord says: I will make peace flow to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flood; you will nurse and be carried on her hip and bounced on her lap.

Say to the cowardly:“ Be strong; do not fear! Here is your God; vengeance is coming. God’s retribution is coming; He will save you.”

The Lord is at Your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His anger.He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; He will crush leaders over the entire world.
