to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

He has sent me to announce the year when he will set his people free. He wants me to announce the day when he will pay his enemies back. Our God has sent me to comfort all those who are sad.

He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.

to announce the year when the LORD will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,

to proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

Blessed[ are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

For[ it is] the day of the LORD’S vengeance,[ and] the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do[ this], saith the LORD of hosts.

Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth[ day] of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout[ all] the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather[ the grapes] in it of thy vine undressed.For it[ is] the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.

And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped[ them] with the hairs of her head.Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven,[ the same] loveth little.And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance[ for] clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.According to[ their] deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

( For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now[ is] the accepted time; behold, now[ is] the day of salvation.)

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Who[ is] this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this[ that is] glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.Wherefore[ art thou] red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people[ there was] none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.For the day of vengeance[ is] in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.And I looked, and[ there was] none to help; and I wondered that[ there was] none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

For this[ is] the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

Blessed[ are ye] that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed[ are ye] that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given[ us] everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

And when ye see[ this], your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and[ his] indignation toward his enemies.

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken[ it].

Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon[ her] sides, and be dandled upon[ her] knees.

Say to them[ that are] of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come[ with] vengeance,[ even] God[ with] a recompence; he will come and save you.

The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill[ the places] with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.
