As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you!

Be like a fire that causes twigs to burn. It also makes water boil. So come down and make yourself known to your enemies. Cause the nations to shake with fear when they see your power!

The LORD reigns! Let the peoples tremble. He is enthroned between the cherubim. Let the earth quake.

This city will bear on my behalf a name of joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth, who will hear of all the prosperity I will give them. They will tremble with awe because of all the good and all the peace I will bring about for them.

Do you not fear me? This is the LORD’s declaration. Do you not tremble before me, the one who set the sand as the boundary of the sea, an enduring barrier that it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot pass over it.

He made his glorious strength available at the right hand of Moses, divided the water before them to make an eternal name for himself,

Today, the LORD will hand you over to me. Today, I’ll strike you down, remove your head, and give the corpses of the Philistine camp to the birds of the sky and the wild creatures of the earth. Then all the world will know that Israel has a God,and this whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the LORD saves, for the battle is the LORD’s. He will hand you over to us.”

Look! The kings assembled; they advanced together.They looked and froze with fear; they fled in terror.Trembling seized them there, agony like that of a woman in labor,

Then the nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth your glory,for the LORD will rebuild Zion; he will appear in his glory.

When the peoples hear, they will shudder; anguish will seize the inhabitants of Philistia.Then the chiefs of Edom will be terrified; trembling will seize the leaders of Moab; all the inhabitants of Canaan will panic;terror and dread will fall on them. They will be as still as a stone because of your powerful arm until your people pass by, LORD, until the people whom you purchased pass by.

“ Stop fighting, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”

Today I will begin to put the fear and dread of you on the peoples everywhere under heaven. They will hear the report about you, tremble, and be in anguish because of you.’

Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his power known.

Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like straw before the wind.

Why should the nations ask,“ Where is their God?” Before our eyes, let vengeance for the shed blood of your servants be known among the nations.

When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the countries of their enemies, I will demonstrate my holiness through them in the sight of many nations.They will know that I am the LORD their God when I regather them to their own land after having exiled them among the nations. I will leave none of them behind.

Even for the foreigner who is not of your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name—for they will hear of your great name, strong hand, and outstretched arm, and will come and pray toward this temple—may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place, and do according to all the foreigner asks. Then all peoples of earth will know your name, to fear you as your people Israel do and to know that this temple I have built bears your name.

I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and burning sulfur on him, as well as his troops and the many peoples who are with him.I will display my greatness and holiness, and will reveal myself in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’

But after three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them.Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them,“ Come up here.” They went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies watched them.At that moment a violent earthquake took place, a tenth of the city fell, and seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake. The survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

You will be driven away from people to live with the wild animals, and you will feed on grass like cattle for seven periods of time, until you acknowledge that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms, and he gives them to anyone he wants.”At that moment the message against Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people. He ate grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with dew from the sky, until his hair grew like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.But at the end of those days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven, and my sanity returned to me. Then I praised the Most High and honored and glorified him who lives forever: For his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation.All the inhabitants of the earth are counted as nothing, and he does what he wants with the army of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth. There is no one who can block his hand or say to him,“ What have you done?”At that time my sanity returned to me, and my majesty and splendor returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and my nobles sought me out, I was reestablished over my kingdom, and even more greatness came to me.Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and glorify the King of the heavens, because all his works are true and his ways are just. He is able to humble those who walk in pride.

Sing a new song to the LORD, for he has performed wonders; his right hand and holy arm have won him victory.The LORD has made his victory known; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

King Nebuchadnezzar, To those of every people, nation, and language, who live on the whole earth: May your prosperity increase.I am pleased to tell you about the miracles and wonders the Most High God has done for me.How great are his miracles, and how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

Now, LORD our God, save us from his power so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, LORD, are God— you alone.

Then King Darius wrote to those of every people, nation, and language who live on the whole earth:“ May your prosperity abound.I issue a decree that in all my royal dominion, people must tremble in fear before the God of Daniel: For he is the living God, and he endures forever; his kingdom will never be destroyed, and his dominion has no end.He rescues and delivers; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for he has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

I will perform miracles for them as in the days of your exodus from the land of Egypt.Nations will see and be ashamed of all their power. They will put their hands over their mouths, and their ears will become deaf.They will lick the dust like a snake; they will come trembling out of their hiding places like reptiles slithering on the ground. They will tremble in the presence of the LORD our God; they will stand in awe of you.

I will harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. Then I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” So the Israelites did this.

The LORD will roar from Zion and make his voice heard from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will shake. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the Israelites.Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who dwells in Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy, and foreigners will never overrun it again.
