沒有信，就不能討神的喜悅，因為到神面前來的人必須信有神，並且信他會賞賜尋求他的人。

清晨，眾人早起往提哥亞的曠野去。出去的時候，約沙法站着說：「猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民哪，要聽我說：信靠耶和華－你們的神就必站立得穩；信賴他的先知就必亨通。」

不錯。他們因為不信，所以被折下來；你因為信，所以立得住。你不可自高，反要戰戰兢兢。

所以，諸位可以放心，我信神怎樣對我說，事情也要怎樣成就；

所以，以色列的聖者如此說：「因你們藐視這話，倚賴欺壓和詭詐，以此為可靠，因此，這罪孽在你們身上，好像高牆裏有凸起的裂縫，頃刻之間忽然坍下來了；它被砸碎，好像把陶匠的瓦器摔碎，毫不顧惜，甚至在碎塊中找不到一片可用以從爐內取火，或從池中舀水。」

暗利用二他連得銀子向撒瑪買了撒瑪利亞山，在山上建城，按着山的原主撒瑪的名，給所建的城起名叫撒瑪利亞。暗利行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，比他以前所有的王作惡更嚴重。因為他行了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所行的道，犯他使以色列陷入罪裏的那罪，以虛無的神明惹耶和華－以色列的神發怒。暗利其餘的事，他所做的和所顯出的英勇事蹟，不都寫在《以色列諸王記》上嗎？暗利與他祖先同睡，葬在撒瑪利亞，他兒子亞哈接續他作王。猶大王亞撒第三十八年，暗利的兒子亞哈登基作以色列王。暗利的兒子亞哈在撒瑪利亞作以色列王二十二年。

「這百姓既厭棄西羅亞緩流的水，喜歡利汛以及利瑪利的兒子，因此，看哪，主必使亞述王和他的威勢如大河翻騰洶湧的水上漲，蓋過他們，必上漲超過一切水道，漲過兩岸，必沖入猶大，漲溢氾濫，直到頸項。他展開翅膀，遮蔽你的全地。以馬內利啊！」

但百夫長信從船長和船主，不信保羅所說的。

猶大王亞撒利雅第五十二年，利瑪利的兒子比加登基，在撒瑪利亞作以色列王二十年。
