the elders and dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail.

The leaders of Israel are the head, and the lying prophets are the tail.

The head is the elder, the honored one; the tail is the prophet, the one teaching lies.

For the Lord has poured out on you The spirit of deep sleep, And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.

For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

He said to him,“ I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying,‘ Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’”( He was lying to him.)

“ Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life.

Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

My heart within me is broken Because of the prophets; All my bones shake. I am like a drunken man, And like a man whom wine has overcome, Because of the Lord, And because of His holy words.

“ Therefore I also have made you contemptible and base Before all the people, Because you have not kept My ways But have shown partiality in the law.”

Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.

“ I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying,‘ I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbor, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in My name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.And because of them a curse shall be taken up by all the captivity of Judah who are in Babylon, saying,“ The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire”;

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

And he said to him,“ Look now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go.”

Therefore do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying,‘ You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they prophesy a lie to you;for I have not sent them,” says the Lord,“ yet they prophesy a lie in My name, that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you and the prophets who prophesy to you.”

The Lord said to him,‘ In what way?’ So he said,‘ I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said,‘ You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said,“ Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?

Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet,“ Hear now, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie.Therefore thus says the Lord:‘ Behold, I will cast you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the Lord.’”

And the Lord said to me,“ The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say,‘ sword and famine shall not be in this land’—‘ By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed!

The people will be oppressed, Every one by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder, And the base toward the honorable.”

The watchman of Ephraim is with my God; But the prophet is a fowler’s snare in all his ways— Enmity in the house of his God.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

Therefore do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your soothsayers, or your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying,“ You shall not serve the king of Babylon.”For they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land; and I will drive you out, and you will perish.

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart,‘ Hear the word of the Lord!’”Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts.You have not gone up into the gaps to build a wall for the house of Israel to stand in battle on the day of the Lord.They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord!’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed.Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say,‘ The Lord says,’ but I have not spoken.”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,” says the Lord GOD.“ My hand will be against the prophets who envision futility and who divine lies; they shall not be in the assembly of My people, nor be written in the record of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord God.“ Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace— and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar—say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall. There will be flooding rain, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it down.Surely, when the wall has fallen, will it not be said to you,‘ Where is the mortar with which you plastered it?’”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ I will cause a stormy wind to break forth in My fury; and there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and great hailstones in fury to consume it.So I will break down the wall you have plastered with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered; it will fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst of it. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.“ Thus will I accomplish My wrath on the wall and on those who have plastered it with untempered mortar; and I will say to you,‘ The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it,that is, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her when there is no peace,’” says the Lord God.

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place.

And will you profane Me among My people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, killing people who should not die, and keeping people alive who should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies?”

Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies; They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one turns back from his wickedness. All of them are like Sodom to Me, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.“ Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets:‘ Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, And make them drink the water of gall; For from the prophets of Jerusalem Profaneness has gone out into all the land.’”

“ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
