Surely wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns, it sets the forest thickets ablaze, so that it rolls upward in a column of smoke.

What is evil burns like a fire. It burns up bushes and thorns. It sets the forest on fire. It sends up a huge column of smoke.

This wickedness is like a brushfire. It burns not only briers and thorns but also sets the forests ablaze. Its burning sends up clouds of smoke.

萬軍之耶和華說：「看哪，那日臨近，勢如燒着的火爐，凡狂傲的和行惡的都如碎稭，在那日被燒盡，根與枝條無一存留。

火怎樣焚燒樹林，火焰怎樣燒着山嶺，

火苗怎樣吞滅碎稭，乾草怎樣落在火焰之中，照樣，他們的根必然腐朽，他們的花像灰塵揚起；因為他們厭棄萬軍之耶和華的教誨，藐視以色列聖者的言語。

你們像雜亂的荊棘，像喝醉了的人，又如枯乾的碎稭，全然燒滅。

世代的終結也要這樣：天使要出來，把惡人從義人中分別出來，丟在火爐裏，在那裏要哀哭切齒了。」

百姓發怨言，惡言傳達到耶和華的耳中。耶和華聽見了就怒氣發作，耶和華的火在他們中間焚燒，燒燬營的外圍。百姓向摩西哀求，摩西祈求耶和華，火就熄了。那地方就叫做他備拉，因為耶和華的火曾在他們中間焚燒。

這是耶和華報仇之日，為錫安伸冤的報應之年。它的河水要變為柏油，塵埃變為硫磺，大地成為燃燒的柏油，晝夜總不熄滅，它的煙永遠上騰，必世世代代成為荒廢，永永遠遠無人經過。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，又以極大的憤怒、吞滅的火焰、雷雨、暴風和像石塊的冰雹，使人看見他降罰的膀臂。

因為這是邪惡的事，審判官裁定的罪孽。這是一場火，直燒到毀滅，必拔除我一切的家產。

萬民必像燒着的石灰，又如斬斷的荊棘，在火裏燃燒。」

原來陀斐特早已預備好了，是為君王預備的；又深又寬，堆滿了火和木柴；耶和華的氣息猶如一股硫磺使它燃起。

主耶和華又指示我一件事，看哪，主耶和華命火施行審判，火就吞滅深淵，燒盡產業。

惡人卻要滅亡。耶和華的仇敵要像草地的華美；他們要毀滅，在煙中消失。

耶和華必以火與刀審判凡有血肉之軀的，被耶和華所殺的很多。「那些潔淨自己獻給偶像，進入園內，跟隨在其中一個人去吃豬肉和鼠肉，並可憎之物的，他們必一同滅絕。這是耶和華說的。

你要對尼革夫的樹林說，要聽耶和華的話。主耶和華如此說：看哪，我要在你那裏點火，燒滅你們中間所有的綠樹和枯樹，猛烈的火焰必不熄滅；從南到北，人的臉都被燒焦。凡血肉之軀都知道是我－耶和華點了火，這火必不熄滅。」

因為我的怒火焚燒，直燒到極深的陰間，吞噬地和地的出產，連山的根基也燒着了。

我要使北方來的隊伍遠離你們，將他們趕到乾旱荒蕪之地：前隊趕入東海，後隊趕入西海；臭氣上升，惡臭騰空。耶和華果然行了大事！

他發憤恨，誰能立得住呢？他發烈怒，誰能當得起呢？他的憤怒如火傾洩而出，磐石因他崩裂。

有權勢的必如麻線，他的作為好像火花，都要一同焚燒，無人撲滅。

如果你一隻手使你跌倒，就把它砍下來；你缺一隻手進入永生，比有兩隻手落到地獄，入那不滅的火裏去還好。

我心中不存憤怒。惟願在戰爭中我有荊棘和蒺藜，我就起步攻擊他，把他一同焚燒；

這塊田地若長荊棘和蒺藜，必被廢棄，近於詛咒，結局就是焚燒。

「王又要向那左邊的說：『你們這被詛咒的人，離開我！進入那為魔鬼和他的使者所預備的永火裏去！

因此，主－萬軍之耶和華必使亞述王的壯士變為瘦弱，在他的榮華之下必有火點燃，如同火在燃燒一般。以色列的光必變成火，它的聖者必成為火焰；一日之間，將亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒淨盡，又毀滅樹林和田園的榮華，連魂帶體，好像病重的人消逝一樣。

使他們受痛苦的煙往上冒，直到永永遠遠。那些拜獸和獸像，受了牠名字的印記的人，晝夜不得安寧。」

因此，他們必如早晨的雲霧，又如速散的露水，如被狂風吹離禾場的糠粃，又如煙囪冒出的煙。
