Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the Lord. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer.

When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage. He removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured in the hills of Ephraim. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. (niv)

“ Where have you laid him?” he asked.“ Come and see, Lord,” they replied. (niv)

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (niv)

“ Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! (niv)

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (niv)

So he got up and went to his father.“ But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. (niv)
